The happiest ending in this relationship (and for our future) is if we win a championship and then S&T him to Houston. Harris's contract expires after next season, and maybe we can find ourselves players in free agency of summer 2024 and beyond. Or we use Harris's expiring + Maxey to go after another top-10 player.

Maxey and Harris isn't getting you a top-10 player.

I don't love the idea of giving Harden a big long-term deal, but letting him walk does more damage to this team than having an albatross a few years from now. They don't have the assets to replace him.

Just let Maxey grow into the lead guard role then. It’s just an unforced error to sign Harden to a big deal knowing he maybe has 1-2 good years left.

You have the MVP of the league in his prime. You don't have time to waste. Remaining a contender in the immediate future is more important than having clean books.

He doesn't have the playmaking or vision just stop it please.
1-2 years fit the timeline, in 3 years Embiid won't be good enough anyway and we will need to rebuild. I prefer 1-2 years of contending than worrying about what happens 3-5 years from now.

It's simple. When James starts to really decline in 1-2 years Maxey will be there to take his place.
When Joel starts to really decline in 3 years Paul Reed will be more than ready to take those reins. No rebuild needed.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

Udoka feels like a "win now" move, so I actually think the Harden talk is real. They'll try to get a star with aforementioned big package and match them with Harden.

Harden hasn’t denied these reports and he’s never explicitly said he wants to stay here long term.

Total speculation on my part, but my guess is he wants to give it all this year for a chip, and win or lose, he wants to go back to Houston where he found his home and lifestyle as an NBA player.

Edit: Also, Jalen Green is a dream come true in a Harden S&T. Not the perfect backcourt partner for Maxey but talented nonetheless. I wonder if he would entice Boston for Jaylen in a 3-way deal.

I don't see Philly and Boston taking back Green at this point. I could see him being involved in a trade, but going somewhere for a team that decides to rebuild like maybe a Portland (not that they would be my target).

I could see Boston doing that trade for Green. Brown is prob going to leave at the end of his contract and he is close with Udoka. Boston might want to make a proactive move before he leaves and Houston might want to lock him up before he hits the open market.

I'm not on top of Celtics news at all so its surprising to me as I feel their the favorites to win it this year and no reason they couldnt next year either.

Why does Brown want out? And why wouldn't they try to go for another player that's more polished to stay a favorite?

Why would Houston trade anything of value for Harden? Where is all of this coming from?

You might not like him but a 20 year old #2 pick in the draft just two years ago is definitely “some value”.

Houston has more than enough cap to sign Harden without a S&T. I think the Jalen Green connection is that Houston would go after Jaylen Brown after signing Harden.

If Houston wants to accelerate their rebuild they'd be better served going for stars other than Harden. Other than nostalgia I think taking Harden back reverses a lot of their well constructed rebuild after they traded him. I maintain that this smoke is all non-sense from Harden's camp to maintain leverage with the Sixers.

Marc Stein who is pretty reliable thinks Harden to Houston is going to happen.Infact he says everyone around the league believes it’s going to happen

Cam thomas scores 40+ like a normal day in the office. Jalen Green has to sacrifice a new born child when the moon turns red in order to get one

I think it’s quite often that players holds teams hostages with contract extensions and this is why players will have the “austin croshere effect” where they would would step up out of the blue in the playoffs for a large pay day in the offseason. Sometimes it works out, most times you’ll end up like Austin Croshere and Jordan Poole.

I have a gutfeel the Bucks weren’t looking to overpay and extend Middleton, Jrue and Brolo that lead to this mess
I think Harden is asking a lot from the team and is using this as leverage.

From the Rox perspective, I dont know why they’d want Harden. Is it for a farewell tour? And if they’re looking to win it now, he isn’t that easy to win with either.

Push comes to shove, i’d ask for a lot of assets in return and go for guys like Dame, probably Giannis, Kawhi or Jimmy

Maybe it's just his way of relaxing, but maybe he is not that motivated to win it all? A scary thought, but it is possible.
