I used to view him as a fraudulent coach riding LeBron's coattails, but he has proven (to me) to be a fantastic all-around coach. Known for quick adjustments, can relate to players because he's been there, etc.

I don't quite see how you cherish the memory of the best coach in franchise history by hiring an assistant. That’s not smart, it's an act of lunacy, General Manager, Sir. Personally, I think you'd be a **** idiot.

this feels like when a person grows up thinking their parents lacked in certain areas so they over parent in those areas when it's their turn. bud never made adjustments so now we need the guy who is known for adjustments. are we thinking about any other aspect of his abilities? are we clear on what those abilities are and if they make him a good fit for this team?

the coaching is one thing, but at risk of being predictable: we really **** up letting PJ walk. we do not lose to Miami with a player like him on the court. we just dont. we need more of that juice, regardless of anything else.

Playoffs at minimum.

I think Nurse had pieces but couldn't put them together

Hiring Nurse strikes me as the Bucks doing the old standby of hiring a Bucks killer.

I guess to plays Devil's advocate here: by how much do you think the Raps underachieved?

2023: 41-41, lose play-in to Bulls
2022: 48-34, 5 seed, lose first round to 4 seeded Philly 4-2.

2023 wasn't good but 2022 they prob went about as far as expected. This is not me shilling for Nurse, I'm just curious how much people think he underachieved with that Raps roster.

I completely biffed on 2022. You're dead-on there.

Walter Ray Allen. He must get a ring in Milwaukee. The curse must be lifted

ETA: It’ll be nurse. Best job available and the best/highest profile guy available who also happens to have recently won a title.

Not sure if that’s the right call but that’s how I see it playing out. At least we know Giannis will get the minutes necessary to put up stupid numbers and get his third MVP.

Didn't have the horses to make the playoffs? To win 42 games? You think .500 is a good result for a team with FVV, Siakam, Anunoby, Barnes, Achiuwa, etc? I feel like if we were that fanbase most here would be calling for his head.

I don’t really think Toronto is that talented of a team to be honest. It’s not a bad roster by any means but .500 in a strong eastern conference feels about right to me and they did better than that the year before.

People hyped them up like crazy at the beginning of the season because they thought Scottie was bound to ascend to superstar status in his second season for whatever reason. People lost their minds on them for whatever reason so it’s no wonder they’re viewed as a disappointment now.

I wouldn’t really say I’m sold on Nurse as an upgrade over Bud but I think he probably makes the most sense as our hire.

It be poetic to have Nurse, the man who innovated the "Giannis Wall". He would be a great fit in helping Giannis attack those defensive schemes. I live in Toronto, but I'm a Giannis stan so I watch both teams up close. He is constantly making in game adjustments and has a stronger personality than Bud. Most of the grievances Bucks fans have with Bud, Nurse is the opposite.

Also, when the Raptors were looking for a new coach both Nurse and Bud were in the running, but they chose Nurse so take that for what its worth.

I think he relates and communicates better than anyone.
But I don't think that was our problem. Giannis and Nurse look like they'd be made for each other.

Imagining Cassell can come on and do better than Bud is as dumb as the Nets hiring Nash.

Nurse is the dude. If we don't have a more experienced tactical coach in the hopper already then this was a stupid firing.

Bud did amazing as a 1st time head coach but he got figured out and couldn't adjust even with better personnel than Miami had available. Bud also couldn't control Giannis from bowling people over or Khris from trying to Kobe. Miami could game plan 7 ft powerhouse Giannis out of a game but we couldn't do it to Butler.

Getting an inexperienced coach isn't going to control them either.. it has to be some either really smart, really tactical or successful playoff experienced guy.

I like Nurse.. hopefully he's in the hopper already. Or if there's someone better idk
