I’d like to hear all the excuses from fan boys, on why marcus wasted all that time crossing half court and setting up a play. But but but marcus does winning plays lol.
There is a reason why we had IT, Kyrie and Kemba. Those guys can really handle the ball and we got them because we needed a point guard. Smart should have always been a 6th man. An energizer bunny from the bench. Rozier would have been better
You cant sit here and be the person who blames Tatum for getting the ball to Smart late (instead of just shooting it him self) but ignore the fact that Smart got the **** ball to Tatum at 7 seconds almost 50 feet from the hoop in the first place.
Those people aren't being honest about Smart.

There not much Tatum can do with that amount of time, while being doubled. The fact is, Smart wasted too much time crossing half court, and he didn’t really set up any plays. He just passes the ball to Jt expecting him to do something. Mazulla **** this game by not calling a timeout, and setting up a play. This guy will cost us this season. It’s one thing not calling a timeout and seeing your players push the ball before the D can set up, but walking the ball like we are not down, and being ok with that? **** Joe!

Hey Joe, maybe talk to this guy
I miss Brad. I don’t even think I’ve heard Scal say “ATO” all season, let alone say anything positive about our execution. He loves slinging basketball jargon
Brad the coach was a failure with this version of the Celtics.
Unfortunately, Brad the GM hired a Brad clone as coach who is well on his way to being a failure himself.

Little Joe had not one but two chances to get it right and he sat on his hands BOTH times.
Given the timeout and play he drew up to end game 1, it probably wouldn't of made a difference.

This nails it.
Actually, it didn't. We literally didn't get a shot off on the final possession. That's a fail.

This series should have been ovet so if we lose it , it will be because of joe’s inexperience and our late game execution. We csnt keep losing close games and expect to win a title

I don't know why everyone is so hyperobsessed with crossing the halfcourt line quickly. It was the final shot. We were going to dribble out the clock so the Sixers don't get the ball back with time to score. Every NBA team does that.

What? Teams do that when the game is tied. Not when you're down and have to score. When you're losing you don't stand there wasting clock. You go fast. We had enough time to get 2 possessions if we wanted. Meaning we could have missed and then fouled and had another shot to tie the game even if philly hits both free throws. We played it the absolute worst way you could possibly play it.

Not a single team does that when they're down. Get a quick shot. You miss, you can offensive rebound or play the foul game. Cs had 19 seconds and didn't get a shot off. There's something troubling about that. You never dribble down the clock when you're behind. Tf kind of strategy is that?! Unless you're 100% sure you're making that final shot on time. (You aren't.)
The sanest thing to do was call a timeout and get the first good shot after the timeout.
If Sixers have time to score, so what?! You have the roles reversed and you're ahead. Trust the defense to get a stop (unless it's JB cheating off the corner lol.)

It's a 1 point deficit on the road and the paint is locked down. You play to win, not to get two bad shots off. Trusting the defense to get a stop is already thinking too far ahead.
The decision was sound. The execution was off by a tenth of a second.

If you call a timeout and the coach can set up a good play, it's NOT a bad shot. Coaches can draw up quick good shots off a timeout that eat 3 seconds off the clock. Heck they can draw up a game winner with a second left.
Instead, we get zero shots. Brilliant.

Sixers were extremely lucky in this one
Tatum played with maturity and poise even when nothing went his way in the beginning
Team played well, but just didn't have enough luck the whole way, with sixers hitting timely threes and Celtics players missing open shots and not gaining momentum
wish we could have pressured the ball from the start
Huge mistake by Mazzula at the last possession of the game
It was clear Philly runs a p&r between Harden and Embiid, so having the help coming from the strong side was a HUGE mistake
Hate losing, but Celtics played hard and the right way
On to the next!
We likely won't ever know for sure (Joe's not gonna go out in a presser and start throwing Jaylen under the bus) but I think Horford was the help on that play and Jaylen decided to freelance so he can be the hero.

I am still super annoyed.
win the next 2 in dominating fashion and I will then get over it.
And I like Joe a lot still, but he totally cost the game yesterday. 100%.

We could've had that. Pretty doable game for us, imo. It is what it is though. Hope they come out with more energy in game 5.
Good assessment:
