From the trade board, but:
Bobby for either
Duarte, theis, #26, #29
Or
Duarte, smith, #26, #29

Umm......yes please. And I'm a huge MIddleton defender.
OKC would have to be crazy though.
Someone would have to be threatening Presti with becoming the middle part of a human centipede, for him to consider that deal. I love Middleton, but that's a no-brainer for Milwaukee and a terrible idea for OKC. I think if they wanted to package Giddey and Dort, someone like Jaylen Brown or another all-star wing that's younger, could fit the bill.

Yes please, and I love Bobby. Need to find a way to inject some young talent using non-core assets and this at least gives you 3 cracks at it.

I'm probably lower on Bobby than most here are but also don't really love Duarte so I'm not really sure how to feel about this. If you opt for Duarte, Smith, and keep the picks, that's certainly a pretty dramatic change in terms of the age of the roster and all four of those pieces could theoretically be interesting, but none of them are likely to be as good as Bobby and I tend to doubt that we'll trade him for guys that might not be able to really help us.
It's an interesting proposal for sure; I have mixed feelings.

Honestly, combine that Bobby trade proposal with the Middleton for MPJ idea (Denver fans seem pretty open to it) and that might be my ideal "re-tool but still contend" scenario.
Jrue/???
Grayson/Pat/Marjon
MPJ/Duarte
Giannis/Crowder
Brook/Theis
Picks #26, #29, #60 in the draft
Still need to figure out your backup PG situation and pick up an extra big (maybe you can pry McConnell out of the Indy deal), but it's a swing for the fences move that can pay off big if MPJ blows up taking on a bigger offensive usage rate, and you got some assets to trade or stash some prospects on your bench.

Fewer borderline-star players make me more skittish than MPJ - dude is always just one bump away from season-ending surgery, and he's dumber than a box of rocks. Would pass on that unless you can flip him to a third team that really likes him and his upside for something less questionable.

Really like the idea of going after Sexton. He's a guy who can make a jump, rather get on early than later where we will be priced out.

Ron Swanson wrote:I'm not gonna go back to the pre-championship mindset of blaming the role players though. We lost because Jimmy had a Top-20 individual playoff series of all time. We lost because Jrue had one of the worst individual playoff series ever for a defender/overall player of his caliber. We lost because the best player in the league got hurt, missed 3-games, and clearly wasn't close to 100% when he came back. The Suns are making it a series vs. Denver right now with zero depth and quality rotation guys because they have 2 of the 3 best players on the court at all times.
This isn't a situation like what Steph is currently in. When your best players aren't playing up to their level, you're cooked as a playoff squad and it doesn't matter what window dressing you put around them. Replacing the role guys with some better shooters and defenders is gonna yield largely the same results (good RS depth and a high seed), but what we need to really be targeting above all else is a true 16-game offensive difference-maker. The only conundrum is whether that comes at the expense of one of your core pieces (Jrue/Middleton/Bobby) or in addition to those guys (possible but more difficult).
All of the above is true, but I also think you're burying the lede. Games 4 & 5 losses were two historic collapses. The Heat (Jimmy) closed well, but if the Bucks were just bad rather than horrific, we'd be watching them playing the Knicks right now. And it wasn't just missed shots or poor execution. There must at least be an attempt to execute something to have poor execution. It was chaos, and the Bucks players' confidence and performance reflected that.
My point is this is an important context for making decisions about the roster. I don't think you make a blanket statement about the roster simply not being good enough given this context. I think you can conclude that absent some Xs & Os leadership on the bench, there wasn't a player capable of filling the void. Does this leadership need to come from an experienced point guard or a competent head coach? Both?

Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news, re-tool discussion
We keep saying that we must change our defensive schemes next year and i agree ( Less drop defense, more switch, thus moreswitchable defenders). But my greatest concern is our offensive schemes. It would be a suicide to insinst on our current offense. Giannis is getting older, it's no longer sustainable having the ball constantly at his hands. He is the one who creates, he is the one who attacks at the rim etc. This is not winning basketball anymore (Ofc i hope i am wrong).
Of course many people here realise this, i am not saying something new. My conclusion is this: We must get shot creators. Players that don't need an assist to score (catch and shoot guys). Players like Poole, Clarkson, Reeves, DloRussel, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jerami Grant etc. Even if they are not good defenders. Giannis should be focused more on defense next year. Don't go for the 30 points per game.
Be our defensive anchor like AD. That means he will be less tired at the end of the games, and he could thrive. 20-ish points per game could be more useful, if these are clutch points and he is a defensive beast.
I don't want DloRussel, i am not even sure that Jerami Grant/Poole/Spencer etc are key pieces for a title contender team. This is just a generalization and i am using them as examples. Plus, we need wing defense. Grant Williams is a free agent. I think he can be what we wanted Crowder to be.
Bucks should not keep living on borrowed time. Changes must be made, this group run its course. Jrue said that he might retired in two years. Khris maybe cannot any longer play at championship level. Crucial decisions and great risks are ahead of us (Ahead of our gm). We must be younger, no more 156 old players. We seem like people who already schedule their retirement years at Florida.
Unfortunately, it's easier said than done.
For example, i just thought
KHRIS for Jordan Poole and Kuminga
JRUE for Dort/3 first round picks/cap space
using our cap space to sign Grant Williams as a free agent.
And using our new 3 first round picks+ Portis for Myles Turner.
These young players make us tougher immediately, no longer Butlers and Tatums of this world would crush us. Big, switchable, energy guys.
But who will be our PG? Who will make our plays? Giannis again?! Poole is a shoot first guard. Furthermore, i just told that we need shot creators and our only shot creator here is Poole.
(Myles turner will get 20 mil next year. Grant Williams will probably go for 20 too. Dort, 18 mil. Poole 27 mil. next year. I think the numbers are ok, considering that we get rid of 84 milllions of Jrue/Khris/Bobby. Kuminga is at his rookie contract. Still i don't even know if i like my own suggestions. I think that Jordan Poole plays bad this year because he can't stand being teammates with Draymond, but he maybe inconsistent for his entire career.
DORT-POOLE- GRANT W.- GIANNIS- TURNER, and Lopez/Kuminga/Allen/Pat C/Beauchamp/Carter. I like it but i wouldn't bet that it's better from this year's version. A Batman and No Robins)
So, changes must be made but there is a strong possibility that they are gonna lead to a diseaster. Horst is not gonna have an easy summer.

IMO…
MPJ is Drew Gooden with range out to 3 and a significant injury history. No thanks to him.
Sexton would be worth a look.
This draft “looks” pretty awful past Wemby, so picks in the 20s should not be viewed as significant upside assets outside of being rerouted in larger deals.

Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news, re-tool discussion
Things that have been evident since, or before, Toronto series 5 years ago.
1a. Giannis can’t be primary trigger guy up top. He should be finishing.
1b.Need an actual playmaker/decision maker.
2. Khris struggles to check big wings defensively. Need that long, bouncy guy.
3. Deep drop in modern NBA where everyone is a shooter is a big problem. Need mobility and scheme flexibility.
4. Need a microwave bench scorer.
5. Need coach to adjust to/exploit opposing teams’ personnel and schemes.
Let’s start checking off this list over the summer, or Horst can go too.

Re: Bucks Offseason Thread - Trade, news, re-tool discussion
Combining some deals here, but:
Midds for thj, bullock, green, #10
Bobby for Duarte, theis, #26, #29
Does this then work?
Thj, bullock, Duarte, theis, #10, #26, #29, ‘29 first, ‘28 swap for dame
I suppose this is one of those gross 4 for 1 deals.
Dame
Jrue
Green
Giannis
Brook
If it would take more firsts, then you could do the Jrue to Memphis addition.

Use one pick on Coulibaly and trade the other one for Kira Lewis.

I loved Kira Lewis as a prospect. Haven't followed him since he ripped up his knee. He still have his quickness? That could be a good reclamation project.

We should offer Khris to the Celtics for Jaylen Brown and tell them it's better than losing Brown for nothing in free agency lol.
Just a dream, but I wonder if there is any possible way we could come away with Jaylen Brown. He'd be perfect next to Giannis.

It’s not 4 for 1 but 7 for 1. Not close for Portland.

Zero interest in Sexton. Tiny shooting guards are some of the most exploitable playoff liabilities outside of a big plodding center these days. I'm rolling the dice on a size/skill/athletic talent like MPJ who's at least played in big playoff games and proven to be a resilient scorer. Especially when the lineup data is trending in the right direction the last few years. Yeah, there's definitely the lingering injury concerns there with the back, but that's pretty much the reason why a talent like him is available in the first place. Warts and all, he'd be damn near untouchable if he was a durable, 82-game guy like Mikal Bridges.

There’s no chance they trade Edwards IMO but I’d try to figure out McDaniels’ trade value.
