Yeah. I have cooled to the idea of signing him.

Why not? If we offer what Lakers couldn’t, we get Austin Reaves

It is rumored that Austin Reaves will look to a 4-year 100M contract. It is hard to see how the Lakers could match above that line. So, if the Magic was willing to go 4-years on 120M, I think that gets him.
I accept many here will say "that's too much". But relative to the new cap that's coming, it won't be.
Orlando needs to find its SG of the future soon. And this is the salary range Orlando should be looking at.

But is reeves that guy? I don't think so.... We've only seen reeves being the wide open option.... The benefit of the gravity of a lebron James and AD..... Also getting that LA whistle doesn't hurtdrsd wrote:MasterGMer wrote:Ducklett wrote:I would love Reeves but it seems unlikely.

I mean technically we got one.... We just don't get the ball to Harris enough, not enough volume..... Reeves is not as good of a shooter as Harris but he is a bit more dynamic.... The problem I'm having is trying to wrap my head around the kind of money we would have to pay reeves to get him.... Only for his role here to be not quite what the price tag says his role should be.... I Mean on the totem pole he'd be below paolo/Franz/Fultz/Dell at the least.... I guess with salaries ballooning this would be the new normal?drsd wrote:KillMonger wrote:But is reeves that guy?
This is a critical question as Reaves on Orlando might be used like G-Harris. Then: why would the Magic pay him 25-30M a year to be an 8ppg guy?I don't think so.... We've only seen reeves being the wide open option.... The benefit of the gravity of a lebron James and AD..... Also getting that LA whistle doesn't hurt
One would hope that next year Banchero and F-Wagner are both magnets of defenders. If so, Orlando needs permitter shooting at the SG position.

I’d much rather take a shot at Simons or even Poole, in that price range (or less), who have shown they can put up gaudy ppg, even in the shadow of HOFers. I consider Reaves a complementary player, not a leading man…and that’s leading man money.

IMO, I think he could be the third option on this Magic squad. But not paying too much
I think range between 25M and 30M can get him.
Yes, he is a complementary piece, but a perfect complementary piece

that's too much for him...no doubt that will get him, unless he takes over in the next two rounds, that's a gross overpay.

meawhile Poole is getting paid $30mil+ and GS cant rely on him in games and doesnt play any defense. If you wanted Simons i could live with that, but not Poole
