Gradey Dick does some things that would fit well with us, outside of even looking strictly at his shooting yet. Deadly at the corner 3, a solid, smart defender who won't be a liability. Can pass well. I almost feel like I'm looking at quicker developed, taller JJ Redick in the season when SVG started trusting him more, because JJ finally understood the NBA on both sides.
I also like Colby Jones a lot too, in my opinion he's going to be a real NBA player on a lot of levels.
Jordan Hawkins is a great grab if you think his defense and passing will be okay enough, or if you see any real explosive potential as a scorer. Reminds me of T. Ross in his most impactful seasons.
I would say something somewhat similar for Marcus Sasser, as in, I feel like you draft him and see if he's going to quickly be an all star point or not. I can see something big there, even if it's just the next Nate Robinson but at 6'1.
I would love to trade up to Brandon Miller too.
I rarely look at big men, but I think this draft has a couple good ones, and we are maybe down JI now.
This Magic FO has picked well with, injuries not counting, #6 Jonathan Isaac, #8 Franz Wagner, and #1 Paolo Banchero. And I think #5 Jalen Suggs will become one too as he's already good at a few important areas. Not many teams do well like that in a short 3-year stretch.
I don't think it will end up being possible or worth the asking cost to get Brandon Miller, but Gradey Dick could be a great draft. Especially if Hammond wants to repeat his 10 win improvement goal.
And then I would love to punt the #11 pick down the road, like I know this FO might not love the idea, but go ahead and get like a far-off 2028 unprotected first from someone.
Of course, if you can trade a package with both picks for like an already proven young NBA player, I'm more than excited for that!
