Re: Doc Rivers has been fired
I don't see why it's so hard to build around Embiid. He's a 2 way center that can shoot it from three. He's not a liability, he just needs to stay healthy and he needs to make quicker decisions on offense. If anything it's been his surrounding cast that hasn't lived up to expectations. You can't pay Tobias Harris 40 million dollars to score 2 points in a playoff game. You don't give a max contract to James Harden only to have him score 9 points in a game seven and then turn around and blame it on his lack of basketball freedom. Ridiculous excuse if you ask me.
This should be Maxey and Embiid moving forward. Find a home for Tobias and call Hardens bluff (it's what he's doing). In other words, we may have to punt on next season.

Do you call Steve Kerr and entertain the idea before he signs an extension?

Maybe there is a flaw in that bolded sentence. Maybe it is hard to build around Embiid. He's turning 30 and center goes downhill after 30 not to mention his injury history. 2 way center is correct. But his O can not be relied on in the playoffs. We have 5-6 years of data to back that up..He shoots 20-25% on 3 in the playoffs. Sure he can shoot 3. Joker is 50%. Blame his supporting cast all you want. Maybe it's time to admit the franchise is not the "franchise" until proven..
Another thing that baffles me. Is it the way the organisation treats Embiid/Simmons that makes make them who they are today? Too spoilt, always cuddles them, treats them like the king of the process. The end result is what you get from spoilt kids. No mental toughness, whinges when things get tough, blames other people for their failure.
Maybe we should not call it the "the process". Too much stress just by attaching to the term.
My only hope is they do not do this to Maxey. Kid is pure. Do not stain him with all these ****.
I think Morey knows what he's doing. Thanks goodness.

Re: Doc Rivers has been fired
Last nights Heat win showed me the advantage of 3 point shooting. They shot 52 percent vs Celtics at 35 percent. That’s the game right there. Butler had a lot of help from multiple players. He was featured at the end with the lead, and Mazulla was outcoached evidenced by shutting down Tatum. Our defense overall is better. I find some of the takes here perplexing. Harden won two playoff games, the team won one, we lost 2 trying to knock rust off. I would say the other two lost was a combination of players missing shots, lack of adjustment, overall poor play by every player not just a couple. Why would you want Harden to walk? The problem here is leadership and overall execution of a dynamic offense. One that doesn’t rely on 35+ points from one player to win games and see that drop 10 in the playoffs because the floor spacing collapses. Harden doesn’t want to be the primary scorer, he’s not saying that, he wants an offense that flows better and isn’t standing around every other play. Yes Harden is bluffing to a degree but not for the wrong reasons. There’s no reason you can’t keep the free agents we have that will fit a more dynamic system with a better coach. You just have to go into the luxury tax to do it and pretty deep. This is why he didn’t sign a long term contract, he can leverage the owner to go all in.

Re: Doc Rivers has been fired
its not hard to build around Biid but you do need more specific pieces than say a wing scorer or point guard.
Jokic is better than Biid BUT the nuggets also have guys capable of masking his weaknesses but also play off his strengths. Gordon (and Grant before him) are athletic freaks capable of guarding up and down position, rebound, roam and spot up. MPJ is an unrepentant chucklord who will let it fly from deep. Murray is shot creator who can step it up in big moments. They also have dog wing defenders in Brown, KCP, and even the rook Braun. They also suffer from the when Jokic sits everything dies problem but unlike Biid, Jokic can play major minutes without any fall out. He has been nuts but I still say that team goes as far as Murray plays well.
Again I keep bringing up Giannis as well. Jrue and Middleton and even Brook allows Giannis to thrive and makes it harder for defenses to just build a wall. Biid's 5 on 5 comment was some loser **** in the moment but it is true lol.
perhaps in the end it doesn't matter because Biid is a sawfft lahooser but i think it is possible to build a squad that makes it so Biid doesn't have to be perfect for us to win series
Now i do doubt we have the assets to do so anytime soon tho. But its funny that in a perfect world, Fultz as the shot creator and Ben as the swiss army knife forward is exactly the two players we need...but looool

Maybe we're just going to promote Coby Karl from the Blue Coats to save a few bucks.

If this is true and Harden leaves in free agency, I don't see how Morey could keep his job. If you allow a player who may not even be on your roster to dictate who is and isn't the coach... that's just clown show of the highest order. At that point Josh Harris would need to step in and get the reins back on this organization, because things would have really gone off the rails.

If this is true, then that implies Morey was considering keep Doc. And that's a fireable offense, too.

Agree. We railed at the coddling of Simmons, but the argument can easily be made that the same goes for Embiid. He has been told he is the 'franchise', the centerpiece that the offense goes through for his entire career - why would he think or believe any different, or seek to change his game for the playoffs, despite the evidence that it's clearly not working? It always has to be someone else's fault, doesn't it?
My hope, and really the only hope for any real success during what remains of his time here, is for a coach to be hired that can reach him and make him see and understand that any change or improvement here must start with him. To point to bigs who have succeeded and make him understand why they have succeeded, the adjustments and sacrifices they made to help a team get to the next level.
Short of that, you either blow it up or we are a treadmill team with an all-star center who either retires here or eventually walks having never delivered even a Finals appearance.

This was obvious, though.
Morey is not going to let Harden walk over a coach or money.

Spo is just touting the coaching association line. Completely predictable.

And Spo should have added. "Doc is just unlucky, to lose 10 game 7 elimination games is just bad luck. Could happen to any coach...not me. but it could happen!"

Re: Doc Rivers has been fired
Watching that video by coach Nick convinced me that a lot of it is on Rivers. Many different teams, many "alpha" players, and every time there is a very similar pattern of breakdown somewhere in game 7: a bunch of turnovers, clueless offense, missing shots, and no reaction from the bench what so ever - this simply can't be a coincidence. He probably thinks that players should adjust by themselves, which is what Rasheed Wallace said. I've actually googled it and Rasheed Wallace said it in 2020 as well when we hired Doc hahhah. He said, "We've seen this movie before". He also said Sixers should get rid of Ben Simmons and that Embiid "should not try to play like KD". A smart guy.

glenn definitely had to go...but it seems like harden is the one who pushed him out...despite embiid liking glenn. so morey sided with harden?

Re: Doc Rivers has been fired
I really hate the idea of Harden have literally any say in the staff or roster of this team. He’s been here for 1.5 years and choked in 2nd round twice. Why the f*ck should we be consulting him on anything?
