Vučević is still an outstanding rebounder and an efficient scorer. To sign with Orlando, this would be about ensuring salary many years from now.

That said, would I rather the Magic sign Vučević on a declining contract 70M: 25/20/15/10 or M-Wagner on a 4 for 50M contract, that's a super easy choice of Vučević.

Rather have Moritz to keep Franz happy.

I think this is a very important point. But M-Wagner could be a 3rd string PF for Orlando. The real issue of Vučević is the negative effect it would have on Bitadze's growth potential.

Still: I would go for Vučević over Bitadze.

MAYBE if he were to come off the bench and at absolute bargain bin prices, but i dont imagine he will do that.

It is to back up Carter

This is a basketball team, not a foster home. If they want to stay together, they better hope Mo can keep up.

It is known the Wagner brothers have a strong bond.
If Moritz leaves, Franz will want ro get out.

Mo is nothing but a 3rd string center. We can always have him with the minimum. Lol

I don't see any basis for this. Vuc will have better opportunities than what would make sense in ORL, in terms of role and money. I'd be happy to have him as a $12m backup to Wendell, but he's not sunk that low yet. He'd be a terrible fit, IMO, as much as I respect his contributions in ORL. I could see him on LAL or another contender first.

As far as Mo Wagner, he's pretty versatile off of the deep bench and I don't think he's really a C, he just gets "big man" minutes where they come-so bringing in a new C shouldn't have too big an effect on Mo (can't say same for Goga). I'm not loving the narrative that we have to keep Mo around for fear of annoying Franz into leaving...is this a Bronny James story all of a sudden? I'd like to keep Mo, but he better not have any illusions about his $$ value when he and Weltman sit down.

Bol Bol is just not anywhere in my thoughts or concerns. I wish him the best playing with Dwight in China.

And-1

We can play out the thought experiment, but in the end, some team will offer a lot of money to Vučević, and Vučević will sign that deal.
And that team Won't be the Orlando Magic.

Moe Wagner has a career PER of 15 and was a PER=17 player last year. He deserves to be on an NBA roster. Indeed, he is very clearly worth more than the NBA min salary line. Resiging him will be above 5M a year. Or he walks.

Vuc would be pure gold at those conditions,it's a no brainer.
then if we are talking about 80 in 4 years and 30 minutes a game, clearly not.

but damn,back-up center it is the position we need to really improve more than anyone.
vuc 20 minutes a game for a team who would want to win 50% of the games, would be a luxury.

i have to read bitadze in some fantasy-roster you guys post, damn goga bitadze, are we serious?

I'm happy (so far) with Goga as a backup to Wendell.

But, my favorite options are...Isaac as healthy and angry and blocking everything in sight, hitting trailing 3's, and switching onto smaller guys when needed...but he's not beefy enough to be a full-time Center (for some, not a lot of, matchups)...obviously, we can't count on that. I'd also be very happy to see a trade back where we end up with Derrick Lively who looks like another, bigger Claxton.

Naaaah.MoeW ia still needed. Bolbol and okeke are sent packing while the regular 20game miss of wcj plus the unreliability of JI means MoeW and Vuc is practically needed.

Yep. Moe is better suited backing up the 4 anyways

Should we go ahead and sign their mother too while we're at it? :nonono: He's a grown-ass man.

I didn't say he shouldn't make an NBA roster. But if, at any time, he isn't good enough to stay on our roster? He goes. No questions asked.

Even only as a backup
I somehow fail too grasp why...

I mean why double down on a center position? then you have to give those centers playing time even if you split it 24/24 its not enough...not to mention teams tend to play small ball more often so it means ..30+ minutes to a center or centers...(15/15 lol) rest of the minutes from c position goes to small ball center usually a forward..

look at Nuggets they traded for Thomas Bryant Everybody said...WOW what a great move finally a great backup for Jokic :o...
guess what...
Thomas Bryant doesnt play at all...because main minutes ofc go to Joker and rest of the minutes they play small...

so obviously I woudnt bring Vuc back ...
as I dont see a point of wasting money salary cap space on a center position
either get someone better than CArter or Vuc or stay put

Return to Orlando Magic
