0-3 Comebacks, Some Tidbits That Favor the Celtics...

Post#1 » by durden_tyler » Wed May 24, 2023 3:35 am

**Posted this in the General Board but could be too Pro-Celtics fun facts. i don't have a dog in this race, but i want to see more basketball so cheering for you guys to at least force a Game 7!**

---

So found these, which is the bit of good news for Celtics IF they FORCE a Game 7 in this Heat-Celtics East Finals.

These are the match-ups that went 0-3 but got stretched to a Game 7. Overall, 150-0 in favor of the team that went 3-0... But there is a BIG difference between the situation of the teams below vs. the Celtics situation...

Rochester Royals vs. New York Knicks, 1951 NBA Finals

Second seed Royals raced to the 3-0 lead but allowed the #3 seed Knicks to force a Game 7.

The team trailing 0-3 was ON THE ROAD in Game 7 and lost the series.

Utah Jazz vs. Denver Nuggets, 1994 NBA Western Conference semifinals

Fifth Seed Jazz raced to the 3-0 lead but the 8th seed Nuggets extended the series

The team trailing 0-3 was ON THE ROAD in Game 7 and lost the series.

Dallas vs. Portland 2003 Western Conference first round

THIRD SEED Mavs raced to 3-0 lead but 6th SEED Blazers forced G7.

The team trailing 0-3 was ON THE ROAD in Game 7 and lost the series.

Now, there's still two Ws to be had if the Celtics want the comeback and force Game 7, and yes the Heat are not some patsy team and could end it in G5 or G6 but if it reaches G7...

It's the HOME TEAM that will have the HOMECOURT ADVANTAGE over the team that LED 3-0 in this series! If any, we should just cheer for it to happen just to see if history is going to be broken!

Thanks for the information. Jayson and Jaylen are 5-1 and 6-1 in games 7. That, and home-court advantage, should bode well if we can get past Game 6 in Miami.

Does home court mean anything for this particular team?

Not to say I wouldn’t prefer to have it but it doesn’t feel like some major or even marginal advantage.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Game 6 is the one in my opinion.

This is reminiscent to the Lebron 1-3 comeback to me. Situationally. Cavs were down 1-3 going back to Oakland, but Draymond was suspended. 2-3 was very plausible. Going back to cleveland, they had momentum and home court, 3-3. Going into Oakland and winning a game 7 was an absolute feat, but you can tell they had built up ALL the momentum and put a TON of pressure on GSW not to give up the first 3-1 lead in NBA finals history.

Celts were on the brink of elimination and manage to keep from getting closed out IN miami after getting dogged all series. Coming home, this is a very winnable game. 2-3 is in sight. If the manage to steal that game 6 in miami I personally think they win game 7.

They get it to game 7 in boston, they are clearly the more talented roster, the steal all the momentum, and they put a ton of pressure on a miami team that has been playing over their heads. I think game 5 is boston's to lose right now and they win game 7 if it gets there. Game 6 will be the deciding game.

This comeback will be all about momentum and pressure.

The only thing that favors the Celtics is the fact that Brown and Brogdon have been non factors thus far and if those 2 figure it out we are a much better team.

Nobody has ever come back from 0-3 but there have been teams that have come back from 1-3, and that's where we at right now. That's my optimistic twist to this anyway.

The NBA has to be due for an 0-3 comeback, right? It’s happened in the NHL and MLB. Coincidentally, two of the guys that coughed up a 3-0 lead to the Red Sox were in attendance in Miami last night.

If you had to write it, and it had to happen, now has to be the time right? Fingers crossed

The team that shoots better from 3 has won every game, the Celtics are a better 3 point shooting team.

How about they just win Game 5 before we start talking about one of the statistically most unprecedented comebacks in sports history

Maybe wait until the force a game 6 before y'all start thinking about come backs.

Looking too far ahead. Take it one game at a time. One quarter at a time. I'm starting to cringe at prognistications of game 7. Focus on winning the next few quarters and the game wins itself. One game at a time.

This is my thoughts. If Brogdon / Jaylen play at the same level they probably don't win another game. Thats only glimmer cuz they have flat out sucked.

A terrible 3rd quarter lost us game 1 and a terrible 4th quarter lost us game 2. Game 3 was a disaster based on a completely **** attitude from the entire team.

This is a team that clearly should not have been down 3-0 based on talent, but their on-court energy sucks.

If Brown and Brogdon find it within themselves to perform at even an average level and the team don't humiliate themselves at home again, a 3-2 series becomes a slightly different proposition for Miami.
