If we could leave this draft with Vassell and Podziemski sign me up. I like Podz. He's probably not good enough to take at 11, but I don't think there is any chance he is there at 36. I am sure there would be a million, we don't have room for 3 rookies, or can't develop so many young guys arguments. BUT I would move that Denver pick and 36 to draft Podz. He's just going to be a good rotation guy for the next decade.

6+11 for Vassell really is a pretty good haul for San Antonio. If they were to have a good idea of what their timeline looks like and want to add talent that matches up with Wemby, they might do this.
If they want to surround Wemby with competent basketball players now, and give Pops a couple years they'd probably consider Vassell part of the core.

How's Vassell's knee after the surgery last season?

You want a 6'6 undersized PF to moonlight the backup C role?
He's bigger than Draymond Green. I think he'll be better than Vuc and cheaper.

Bigger? Right now he isn't. Sure maybe after a year or 2 of nba conditioning.

I would take Vucevic back under the right circumstances (both role and money), I just don’t think he’s willing to accept either one of them at the level I’d be comfortable bringing him back at.

If Vuc came back, the effect on the team would be like instead of that little bottle they sniff before the game, a shot of NyQuil instead.

100% taking Vuc back at a reasonable contract.

Vuc and Mo can be brought back of Mo takes the vet minimum or a smaller contract.

If WCJ gets injured he'll get in games and our Center rotation is sorted

Fultz/Cole
Suggs/Houstan
F.Wagner/Okeke
Banchero/Bol/Isaac
WCJ/Vucevic/M.Wagner

That 12 and leaves us 3 roster spots, 2 for our rookies and 1 2 way

I wouldn't go more than like $8m a year.

We have to factor in WCJ injury history here. This team needs a reliable back up 5 whether it is Vuc or someone else. At least with Vuc we know we are getting a player committed to the franchise and gives us some shooting (theoretically).

Vuc is 1,012 points away from being the all time scoring leader in team history. That could be a reason why he takes a discount to sign here.

Who knows, I’ll still believe it when I see it.

If JI is gone, we can also play WCJ at 4 and Vuc at 5 for some minutes.

Can we stop with this?

Orlando’s needs:
Perimeter scoring, Backup defensive big, Wing depth.

Orlando RealGM board:
let’s spend cap space on Vucevic because we like him and he’s familiar.

It would be pretty cool to sign Vuc at a reasonable price, and then also sign Dwight. Having the two main pieces of our Dwight trade on the same team would be kind of cool. Dwight can be our defensive center for when we absolutely need a stop and mentor the young guys. WCJ and Vuc could split minutes at the 5 and be played together at times, too. Dwight's contract would be minimal, it's all up to what Vuc is willing to take. If he accepted 10-12m over 3-4 years I'm all in.

I've always been a Vuc fan but his fit doesn't really make sense with Paolo, IMO. I know Vuc spreads the floor but we really need defensive help. We need a tough rebounder (Vuc always was a good #'s defensive rebounder-but he's not ripping them down in traffic...Cole would probably take them away) and, absolutely a rim protector. WCJ is very good and a pretty solid defender in general, but combined with Franz and Paolo, we had a bit of a turnstile to the rim once they got past our aggressive guards. My real hope is Isaac picking up minutes at 5, along with WCJ and Goga...if not, I'd be looking for something more like Isaac, in the vein of Claxton or Gafford. I'd also like a look at Steven Adams backing up WCJ, adding toughness and rebounding inside, along with good vet leadership.

Vuc will, and should, have better opportunities to make some money and fit better on another team. I don't think he's ready for the low-paid retirement round with ORL-maybe in a couple of years.

Vuc's Raptor hasn't been good. Based on that, WCJ is a better player, and he makes $12m per year.

Who said that? Overall Center and bench depth is also a need.

As long as he takes a reasonable contact (4/45 for example) he covers the Center position need. As for defensive who are the back up scoring Centers he will struggle against?

What would you do with the cap space if you didn't sign Vucevic?

This idea makes me wish I had 2 more thumbs. I wish they’d stop asking him this every 2 months. He’s a legit nice guy, so even if he felt differently he’d give the same PR answer.

And with the caveats “if the situation and money worked out would you ever consider a return?” has anyone ever said no to that? I’m sure it makes sense in his head with him making 25+ per year and being our starting center. I don’t blame him either, got probably one last big contract to get paid.
