Too bad he was injured and had a crap year

Point guard? Did he show any point guard skills in his time at Arkansas?

Showed as much PG skills as SG skills, or C for that matter.

You guys are just hating because everyone is hating on him. Reality is:

TL;DR - a case can be made to take a chance on him or have him drop to bottom of first equally. Floor is probably Maxey. Ceiling not sure. Not my first or second or third choice but would understand if the risk was taken.

- he was a PG in high school and was pretty good. Also played that role representing the US
- when he went to Arkansas he played PG for a bit and then got injured. Black took over the PG position and when he came be he was the SG. Almost by default since nobody else was a shooter. Terrible spacing
- In his first 5 games of the season he scored 0/16/22/21/5 for assist numbers of 0/5/3/1/0. First game he didn't really play and fifth game he was hurt.
- I went through a few games of Nick Smith (1 good and 2 bad) overall I was disappointed in his play, lack of shooting, lack of engagement, poor defense, inability to finish at the rim. I agree he's a low first round player from his play
- Confused I went back to high school games and watched him play (3 games). He was a special player in high school being better than Cason and Keyonte (Keyonte was chunky in high school). Great feel for the game, vision, finished at the rim, even rebounded well. Played with such calm, special.
- That confused me more so I looked at the all-star circuit. I think he had 3 games, 2 were good and 1 was bad. Definitely stood out on two of those games. One he was the best on the court hands down. Worked really well with Dick, in other words he works well with either a shooter and / or a lob big (which he had in high school). His handle looks nice with space.
- Less confused I looked at Arkansas' Summer Exhibition tour (2 games). He averaged 19\2\3 on 50\40\67. Announcers were saying he was unstoppable, top pick for the draft. 2 steals per game. Incredibly pesky defense, best player in the tournament - again.
- Injury has to be the only way a person can change to such a different player. However, the chip on this man's shoulder is HUGE. Listen to his interviews. He has a build to gain weight. The player I saw in High School and last summer is the player we need. Facilitator, creator, streaky shooter, pesky defender, lanky combo guard. Deep diving him I can see both sides - why Raptors take a chance on him because he could be a perfect fit and why he could drop to the end of the first.

There's a lot of stuff that we don't know about players that has to do more with their personalities/work ethic and also there's the fact that some guys end up in situations that don't allow them to shine. Could be going to an organization where they get buried behind other players or just going to ones that have no idea how to develop players.

The mental attitude and drive to be great is ultimately what propels most players to stardom and it's hard to get a read on that no matter what anyone will tell you.

Yeah the situation being drafted into plays a big part , such a tough situation of wanting to be drafted but going to a place that could ruin ur career

You seem to support all of the highest bust risk prospects in this draft. I challenge you to choose 1 that will make it over the others, because that's the most likely occurrence.

I think it is early in the process to say who is my guy is but a big board of players sounds interesting.

I am mostly throwing darts of guys I like who will be NBA players and likely are in range for the Raps. I might lean more towards the eye test and microskills that should translate.

I will say that this class doesn't have great analytics but from a looks perspective there are perfect NBA archetypes.

Big lead ball handlers: Black, NSJ, JHS, Bufkin, Bailey
Dynamic shooting guards: Lewis, Colby Jones, Strawther
Playmaking forwards: Leonard Miller, Jaime Jaquez
Stretch bigs: Vukcevic, Kris Murray
Defensive switch bigs with shooting: Lively, Clowney

Those are the after 10-30 range guys I think will be good NBA guys with long careers.

Lively going in lottery is a possibility.

I could see Orlando, OKC, or NO take him.

Lively would have fit in so well with Miami but yeah I think he goes a lot earlier. After seeing the form on that 3 point shot honestly if we didn't have Poeltl I would seriously consider him at 13. Lively is the type of guy you want guarding a Wembanyama. The guy completely changes the way offenses look for buckets when he's on the floor. He would look amazing on OKC too if you slot Chet into the PF spot. Giddey-Shai-Williams-Holmgren-Lively is a filthy lineup.

His best fit is Dallas at 10. I’ve been saying it for months and everyone wants to force Taylor Hendricks to them. Lively with Kyrie and Luka is a cheat code.

Noah Clowney is improving his shot. He is a project but I really like his upside. Maybe not for Toronto with the way they are constructed but I would love him in LA with AD as his mentor. Klutch will make it happen.

The guy needed Bam to tell him that? We've been scanning guys high school film on here since the mid 2000s. Ball is life man.

Incidentally, that's why I'm quite high on Lively.

Yea, that's why I haven't written off Keyonte. His upside is crazy.

There's absolutely nothing in the video Barlowe linked that tells me anything new about Keyonte George.

Dallas makes too much sense, and hopefully if Hendricks reaches that far he could drop to us at 13

Dallas put themselves in a corner with kyrie. They want to trade the pick but he’s too much of a wild card to even take him on his word if he says hes coming back. They need a big and defensive guard play badly.

Does anyone feel like Taylor Hendricks has a little bit of young and older Al Horford in him mixed together?

Dallas is in win now mode, keeping #10 would delay improvement 1-2 seasons
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
