Any chance the Raps decide to trade down for multiple picks since they don't have a second rounder? I think it might be the best strategy to address depth issues especially if they're losing Fred + GTJ.
#13 to Brooklyn for #21 and #22
#13 to Indiana for #26 #29 #32
#13 to Charlotte for #27 #34 #39

I seriously doubt it. Brooklyn would be the only one that's even plausible, but no way on earth would they trade out of the lottery for a late first rounder and two seconds.

The way I see it, there is a pretty decent group of 17-18 players in this draft. I would love to have multiple picks. Hell, I would love to have picks 13-17. Can't happen, but it would be fun.
If we can keep #13 and add #3, #4, #7 or #10 in some sort of a Siakam or OG deal, I'd be down with it. I just don't see it happening.
FVV and GTJ will both opt out in a couple weeks. That might put pressure on Masai/Bobby to make a trade and rebuild around Barnes. If it happens, it will have to be at the draft. Unlikely, but it might happen.
Just for fun.. Who would I take if I had those five picks?
#13 Wallace
#14 Bufkin
#15 Coulibaly
#16 Miller
#17 Sensabaugh
I figure at least 3 of these will become starters, if not stars down the road.
Who are the five I see going before these five?
#8 Walker
#9 George
#10 Lewis
#11 Whitmore
#12 Smith
I see the same thing for this group. 3 future starters and maybe stars down the road.
My order isn't important for either group of five.
Some might argue that Sensabaugh doesn't belong on the list, but I see him having 90% of his shots being contested and he still makes them at a great clip. His D definitely makes him a 6th man for a couple years at least, but we know he can definitely score when needed.

Wow, Kobe Bufkin at #10
Bobi Klintman at #15
Dariq Whitehead down at #35? I guess if he doesn't recover 100% he could be Michael Redd 2.0, who was drafted #43.
Sasser in the 2nd round at #37?

Masai didn't think dropping 13 spots was a big deal, so is 13 or 14 that big a deal for Masai if he can get a Thad type player with it?

Watching Michigan all season I was never crying out for Bufkin to play PG, so I'm assuming he's a 2 guard, but he's so young that it's hard to project.
I could see Orlando taking him at 11, especially if they're concerned about Wallace's injury stuff.

Where's the D?

I may be crazy with the order, but it seems as though the guys in front of us are pretty set. It’s kind of annoying that we couldn’t be even 1 or 2 spots higher. If someone like Bufkin or George kill workouts I can see them rising up boards to teams like Orlando, Utah, or even Dallas. I can also see OKC take Coulibaly to keep him from Masai. That would be ideal allowing guys like Wallace, Dick, or even a Thompson twin to drop.

The players that come to mind when watching Bufkin are D Russell and Conley. If he can be a mix of them on offense and the floor leader and IQ of Conley then sign me up.
I also get Cam Payne vibes

Can't wait to see who we take in the draft, but also, who slips out of the draft and becomes a potential SL/2way for us. We haven't hit on many of them, but there always fun to dream about.

Re: 2023 Draft Discussion Part 5
Bufkin is a way better defender than Russel. That article was right.. hard to find major weaknesses in his game. Everything just screams solid which is what the Raptors like. Can run p&R, can spot up, can finish in the lane, can defend, has length
DR = 6'5 in shoes, 6'10" wingspan
Bufkin = 6'5" in shoes, 6'8" wingspan

Re: 2023 Draft Discussion Part 5
While I would love the Pascal for 4 option, that seems like a bold move for both sides that I don't think happens.
The other scenario that I feel is more likely is OG to Indiana. I really think he is their big target and they have the draft capital to get it done.
Toronto had shown interest in Maxwell Lewis and Trayce Jackson-Davis and Tolzman has talked about the trouble of trying to work out guys outside the mock draft range of 13. Could it mean we are preparing for other draft options?
Indiana picks in 2023: 7, 26, 29
Potential trade:
OG/Precious/Thad
for
Nembhard/Hield 7, 26, 29
Kevin Pritchard seems open to trade and wants a competitor that is ready for the playoffs. OG and his skillset is perfect for any playoff team:
If Toronto has 7, 13, 26, 29 they can package two picks to move up, target late first round guys, or just look at retooling through this deep draft class.

I wonder what they’d want for Mathurin. Like if we go to them and offer OG for Ben plus fillers, do they take it? I’d love to swing for potential Canadian stars. The second one being Sharpe in a deal for Siakam.

Nick Smith Jr., Jordan Hawkins, Brice Sensabaugh, Keyonte George, GG Jackson, and Leonard Miller all have a shot of the lottery. I am less certain that Wallace, Dick, Black and Lively will be picked before 13.
Is Wallace that much better than Bufkin and honestly? I never really saw Cason create his own shot much. Not a starter in the NBA to me. He'd be lucky to have a Holiday like career, but he is not terribly exciting and less upside than other PGs.
Lively is a great defender but open question about his offense being one of the worst offensive Cs in recent years.
Dick is a good shooter with size, but is he that much better than Hawkins? Do either warrant a lotto pick?
Black has good size and defense but he isn't a shooter, and not a quick burst PG either. He is a hard fit for most teams but I could see his upside to some degree.
Utah/Indy/OKC all have multiple firsts, so they may be willing to gamble on upside for their lotto picks and take more sure fire rotation guys in the latter half of the first.
