More from the same series, but on his defense this time:

You can see this is clearly where this guy thrives, and loves to experiment with different schemes. Rebound, transition D, and rim protection were some of his key points.

This might be the year we get DPOY Embiid.

I think he's going to really push Maxey to become better on this end pressuring the ball.

I actually like a lot of our role players and don’t trust Doc’s player evaluation of them. Some of them are questionable to come back, but I could see them possibly evaluated differently with Nurse.

McDaniels- I think he was a very good acquisition. However, he didn’t hit his shots. Nevertheless, I would like to see what Nurse thinks of him.

House- He had a terrible season as well, but another guy who, in the right offense, is a good floor spacer.

Niang- I don’t know if Niang will be back or if Nurse will like him.

Shake- I’m not sure he gets the role he wants either way.

Totally agree. As far as I'm concerned, everyone (but Tobias) gets a fresh start, as I have zero faith in Glenn's evaluations, especially of younger players.

Video is way too long, but you can get some idea of his offensive philosophy if you skim through. He still carries a lot of the same values from his days in Houston's organization. Spacing, free throws, layups, corner 3s. Midrange = bad offense.

Harden actually seems to fit into his philosophy a lot better than Jo, but obviously you can't argue with Jo's efficiency. Might start to see him catching the ball in different spots though, and taking more 3s, which wouldn't be the worst thing.

We need to play 5-Out at times ala MIL with Lopez and BOS with Horford. That is a way to rest Embiid on offense and open up the lane for Harden and Maxey. Not all the time, just once in awhile as a changeup. Finding ways to save Jo's energy will be key.

Yeah. Also... I mean, it's not like Embiid can't do it. His percentages haven't been great, but I think part of that is just that he so frequently hesitates to shoot them. I don't want him living out there, but he could easily be taking 5 or 6 a game. He's an elite midrange shooter.

I don’t think nurse signed based on knowledge of what harden is doing. Morey has probably shown nurse his plan B and C when or if harden leaves. I think his plan B is something like Fred his point guard in Toronto or Bradley Beal or even making maxey the man and trading Harris for more auxiliary parts around those two

So this means Embiid trade will happen soon right? coz Nurse sure as hell isn't putting up with Embiid's antics and BS.

This is a legitimate question to ask. Hiring Nick Nurse to me signals a splash of culture/attitude change for this team. Embiid will be given next season to make it work. At this point I can see Nurse lasting longer than Embiid even if we decide to rebuild.

Now to your second sentence, I think even Nick Nurse has his limits on what he can actually do or how he can handle players. I think it's more of Embiid maturing as opposed to Nurse not putting up with the antics. Embiid needs to stop the Droopy sad boi bit on his own. The flopping, faking injuries, crying for calls. All that stuff needs to be put to bed with maturity on Embiids part. Nick Nurse can only do so much in regards to that and he's definitely not just going to bench Embiid for a poor attitude. Just not how the league works anymore.

Perfect hire baby! Nick Nurse a great championship coach! It’s clear why his plus 700 win percentage in his first 3 years and a championship turned into a 500 win percentage and that’s because all those key pieces to all them wins disappeared!!!! The sixers are in very good hands with nurse and defense will still be the name of the game. We’re going to need to somehow trade harris for 2-3 athletic 3 n d wings so this offense can flourish, nurse is huge on the OTHERS playing and performing night in night out the rotation will definitely get deeper far as PT unlike doc only liking to use 6-7 guy’s really. It sucks that guys that can get hot as hell like korkmaz was never even given a shot to help in the playoffs where harden coulda got him wide open shots man but whatever nurse is in town now we’ll see what’s what this off season

FireMorey wrote:People will wonder how Embiid feels about the hire. I'm not sure it's a bad thing if Embiid dislikes it. There needs to be way less cushiness around this organization. Everyone is far too comfortable. Morey probably has one of the most secure jobs in the league even though he's done nothing. Embiid can do no wrong. A has-been Harden gets whatever players he wants in free agency.

Embiid realizing he will get a coach who will call him out on his nonsense could be good for him. And if he can't handle it, you were never going to win with someone that fragile anyway.

Piss off dude harden took less money so morey could bring in more guys!

Doc rivers just didn’t play them enough and didn’t find good rotations

You and the idiot underneath you are two moronic mfers lol, idiot says this is a legitimate question….. yeah trading the MVP while he’s 26 years old because of some antics? What antics clown? Embid has become waaaaay chilled out he ain’t troel nomore that’s the only ANTICS you can mention but that ain’t even antics clown. Only a damn fool would even think about trading a embid!

The fact doc rivers never found 5 guys on the bench who could play together and be effective together is why we underachieving jack ass embid is a superstar foreal!!!! You’ll never get back equal value and you’ll watch him go on to win championship s! Multiple championships!!!!

whether harden is on the team or not...a big part of next season will be how the team performs in the non-embiid minutes so nurse doesn't feel the pressure to play him 36+ mins a night.

Agreed!

Am a little concerned that Nurse needed one of the best playoff performances in the last 20 years from Kawhi to win it all.

Either way, he is a definite upgrade over Doc.

Kawhi was more "very good" rather than "literally 1993 Jordan" for the final 2 series. Still, definitely something to monitor. I am encouraged that the Raps stayed pesky way longer than they should have post Kawhi.

This feels to me like a tacit admission by Morey that Harden is gone. Better get that TPE.

I assume Morey will still chase stars and former Rockets.

Per Pompey Embiid met with Nurse and signed off on it.

You can bet that Nick won't put up with Embiid's narcissistic type play and his airplane antics.

Have a seat Joel... until you figure out how to work as a team player.

Happy someone had the balls to say this. Cannot believe Embiid stilldoes that airplane celebration four years later.

Well I do like the hire of Nurse, our old guys need a nurse anyway. Good, solid hire.

This management/coach situation has been a dumpster fire since Jojo has been here. My main concern, even though he loves the city, is Jojo asking out. We will not be able to get back an MVP for him, and past management has burned all of our resources.

Its really hard to be positive about our future right now.
