jokic can be stopped

just dont let him get the ball deep in the post, thats when hes good.

when he drives, he is soemtimes clumsy and throws up junk, bam successfully defended him multiple times on these.

Put Highsmith on Murray.

and then scheme to deny entry passes to Jokic deep in paint

Every series, every step of the way, people will find reasons why we shouldn't have dared to win or compete-- and we dare, which is why we'll win and win again!

Spoiler:
Each win from here for the Heat will have to be hard fought, and I'm going to watch like I'm Steve Willis

This series is winnable IMO.
I don't think Denver is THAT great a team. Are we better? Perhaps not on pure talent - but we are scrappier, harder working, and have a championship mentality and work ethic.

However, we can't continue to shoot like crap.
Wish we didn't have so many injuries. Herro could have helped last night on offense.

Also wish the NBA didn't have so much stake in their "international" appeal, such that they never call fouls on Jokic. They want him to be the next darling, so he gets away with murder. If his actions were properly officiated, we would be winning this series.

I understand the "don't blame the refs" crowd, but I'm staunch in my belief that this is true. The NBA has an agenda. Officials are not unbiased. This can change outcomes of games. Sucks we have to be on the receiving end of it, though.

Last night, Jokic had one foul called on him all game. In the fourth quarter, when the game was already decided, they called two fouls in quick succession so the Box score reads "3" and to the untrained eye, you would believe the game was fairly officiated. They did the same thing the game before, but that time we were pulling off a comeback and it actually helped us (bias can go both ways!)

If the officials called him for every "actual" foul, dude would be fouling out of games half (or more) of the time. They couldn't have that. Need him on the floor so he can get his triple doubles, and they can write stories about how amazing he is. He is a great player, but he should be nerfed, given all he gets away with currently.

Boycotting the rest of this series, boyos. Can't continue to support and waste my precious time on this scripted, fake a** league. So obvious that Silver wants Denver to win their first title.

I wonder if the narrative will be that "the refs gifted Denver their first title", like it was with us in '06. Something tells me no.

The easiest way to put why Miami hasn't looked good in the NBA Finals is because Butler has lost his fire. I don't see the same effort or passion from him since game 3 of the ECF. He got hurt early on in round 2 and his teammates picked him up. He looked good enough the first 2 games of the ECF where he scored 62 points going 24-50 from the field.... then game 3 came where everyone hit 3s and it ended up being a blowout and it was during that game I really noticed Butler's mindset/body language changed.

SINCE GAME 3 OF THE ECF MIAMI IS 2-5. Butler noticeably took his foot off the gas in game 3 with it being a blowout, his stats in the last 8 games... 21.6 pts, 40% FG%, 6.3 ast, 6.6 reb, 1.3 stls in 39.1 min. He's just not playing with the same fire since that blowout win in the ECF, it's almost like only being behind and getting ready to lose in the 4th is the only way for him to give high level effort. The first 2 games of the ECF before Butler took his foot off the gas? He averaged 31 pts, 48% FG%, 6.5 ast, 6.5 reb, 4.5 stls. He's not hurt in a way where he should be playing this way, it's 100% his mindset and it's really easy to see, he's not even getting steals, his effort level isn't there, he's just been going through the motions until the 4th quarter.

BTW... you know how you get calls in the NBA, you give consistent effort which this team hasn't done for a few weeks now. I'm telling you, that game 3 of the ECF really screwed up this team's perception of themselves and with that, Miami have been a bad team who's been able to win 2 games in its last SEVEN. If Butler's not going to give the effort, it's hard to blame the role-players doing the same. There's ZERO passion from this team much like most of the regular season. When you don't play with effort and sit back on talent, this is what happens.

“It’s 100% mindset” is a pretty privileged thing to say/assume for folks who will not be playing.

Instead of assuming, as we can never truly know, think it’s best to assume that they’re all doing their best and appreciate their efforts. We’re all just human after all

You can see it on the court with the level of effort. I saw way too often Miami players just throwing their arms out for defense instead of trying to stop players. For example how Butler escorted Gordon to the FT line from half court to give up an easy dunk, there were multiple players there that didn't give the same effort as they did earlier in the playoffs. It's easy to see if you're looking for it.

I don't care about stats too much during the games although they are something to talk about, for winning or losing I care about the force/energy Miami is playing with and when they're playing with force/energy they usually win, when they don't it's sometimes it's not even close. Playing with effort/force is the complete difference in Butler's game before and after the all-star break, it's odd that others don't easily see this.

It's like we went away from everything that worked in game 2 defensively

Effort goes beyond Jimmy too. Frankly we should be beyond talking about effort with a title on the line, no excuse for such a lackadaisical performance at home.

-we can’t let some punk rookie come in and get whatever he wants on us shooting 7/8 from the field.
-too much trapping on Murray for no reason, fight through screens and recover
-Bam isn’t making Jokic work enough on defense. I said at the beginning of the series one of the keys is to make his big ass play both ends of the floor, everytime Bam shoots a jumper he bails him out. 7/21 is awful
-Jimmy has to be a tone setter
-Stop being cute and dress Herro. “We dont need him”…until we do. Gotta pull out all stops for game 4.

I think it's time to make another change at SG with Strus going 5-27 in the series and making a number of mistakes on defense. Maybe bring Martin in to start at SG to take turns with Butler to guard Murray. This would mean bringing in Highsmith as the backup 4 and bombing away from 3pt range with Lowry, Robinson, Strus and even Highsmith against the backups.

I agree getting some minutes with Herro off the bench, see what you have because he won't back down in the moment but will be rusty and not in game shape. His shooting should be fine in short spurts.

Most everybody has always said that diffense trump's offense in the playoffs ... From now on if we don't become a great offensive team in this series, we will be eliminated... There is no way to counter punch their joker

Our defense suffers when we miss shots

That’s the difference

Fix the offense and the rest will come with it

Struss is trying to do too much so they need to figure that out

Butler is hurt, man. Who are you to question HIS effort level? Have you ever tried to do something and your body just wouldn't cooperate?

Can't wait until after this series when it's finally revealed what injury Jimmy's been playing through, and all you Jimmy haters eat some serious crow.
