Daniel Gafford and Monte Morris from Washington.

For White? Brogdon?

This is my half-baked, end of the week idea. I do like Gafford a lot for the C's though in a vacuum.

POR gives: G Anfernee Simons, #3, #23
POR gets: G/F Jaylen Brown, G Payton Pritchard, F/C Mike Muscala (latter 2 taken into a TPE they have)

Why? The heavily rumored package of Simons/#3 for an all star SF. Get them to throw in #23 for a couple of bench shooters.

TOR gives: F Pascal Siakam, F/C Chris Boucher
TOR gets: G Malcolm Brogdon, #3

Why? Cash in Siakam for a high pick. They don't seem like a total rebuild type of team though so Brogdon adds shooting in the starting lineup with OG/Barnes and presumably re-signed FVV and Poeltl. They can use Precious in the Boucher role. The #3 pick (presumably Scoot) gives them a long-term FVV replacement to develop.

BOS gives: G/F Jaylen Brown, G Malcolm Brogdon, G Payton Pritchard, F/C Mike Muscala
BOS gets: F Pascal Siakam, G Anfernee Simons, F/C Chris Boucher, #23

Why? Remake things around Tatum. Siakam is a less duplicative co-star than Brown. Simons adds a more explosive perimeter scorer over Brogdon. Boucher is a good backup to Rob and allows us to let Grant walk. Our new look team:

Smart / White
Simons
Tatum / Hauser
Siakam / Horford / Gallinari
RWilliams / Boucher / Kornet

Why? His contract is really bad. He's under contract for the next 3 years at $40 mil. That's higher than Time Lord's contract - and Gafford is a much worse player.

We wouldn't be able to play rob and gafford at the same time. so I'm not paying over $12 mil a year each for 2 guys who can't be out there at the same time..

Brown and Brogdon have to go. Who gives two farthings about Daniel Gafford or some other fringe player? Either you change the team and its culture or nibble around the edges and waste ownership's money.

I dont know if I want to trade the #3 if scoot is there.

I think he has so damn much potential.

Kid is Zion Williamson with growing PG skills.

He could well have Morants impact.

I pitched Brog to LAC on the trade board and didn't think Mann was possible, so started with Batum/Roco/30, but it evolved into people saying basically your idea with a 1st instead or PP. I think your version is doable as well.

So tantalizing for sure. Gotta flip Simons + one of the existing guards to get a more win now player in addition to Scoot. That's where I started a few weeks ago, lol. Can't remember what I did with Simons - maybe DET?

? It's a future 1st for a near-future 1st and two second-round picks. More rolls on low-cost talent, almost 100% won't help them next year or the year after that, maybe never.

I don't know about that.
That 2024 First could be decent and they've had success with their Second Rounders.
And we already know that Muscala was not good enough to help the Cs in the Playoffs.

Muscala had a +31.9 net rating and 78 TS% during the Playoffs.
I thought he played almost flawless.
Muscala should play 20 minutes a game regularly.
Just a good player and a good fit.

That’s MLE money now. Perfectly fine for a 24 year old big like Gafford.

He has a lower ceiling than Rob, but similar games and I’d argue certainly a higher floor as he’s considerably more reliable than Rob.

Let's not get carried away with Scoot. He's 6'2", not a good shooter, not a good defender and put up similar stats this season in the g league to JD Davison, who we picked 53rd in last year's draft.

Contending teams don't trade all-NBA players for lottery picks.

If we were gonna completely blow it up and go into rebuild mode, then sure - trade JB for Scoot. But that's not the case.

If you make a move like that, you mine as well trade Tatum for young players/picks while you're at it.

Yeah, but he’ll start, Simons microwave. Stewart and Burks / bojan something in that range
Toronto for Thad and Gary Trent Jr? Do we add anything?
I’ve seen Vanderbilt, 17 and Beasley as well as DFS and 22

Nothing crazy exciting, but do the Batum and Mann for Brogdon

Smart, White, Scoot, JD
Tatum, Mann, Batum, Hauser
Rob, Al, Grant, Gallo

Plus the simons return

Too late, lol. It’s a rare case where you can add a top pick to a contender and hopefully keep/enhance that contender status. You’re not relying on him to make you good, but if he can come in and contribute, you could have something special

I think Thad and gary is a little light for simons personally.

Simoms is locked up gary can walk.

Vandy amd 17 for simons would be great.

Gives a starter at pf
Scoot would start with ideally white (u less smart gets his three pointer worked out this offseason like he claims)

Still can move brogdon if needed

Scoot/brogs/davidson
White/smart/begarin?
Tatum/#17/hauser
Vandy/grant/kabegele
Timelord/horford/muscala

Pritch/kornet/future first/gallo for an upgraded piece or a potential timelord replacement. Or just future picks

People are waaay over amped about what some of these guys are going to be.

I get it I’ve done it plenty too. And sometimes guys hit and are elite. But median outcome is the rookies discussed here are unlikely to be all stars

It’s just fun. Dead time of year and discussing the super likely run it back scenario isn’t gonna fill much time, lol. Obviously any of these guys can and do bust.

The one caveat in all of it to me is while JB is great, we do better when he’s off the court. Obviously there’s noise in that. But, I don’t think we’d miss him as much as people think. So it frees you up to make some moves that may seem bad on paper.

Boom.

I gotta say, Curm's been pretty much coming in off the top rope all day, every day since the season ended.
