New screens and info for Ashlands update to Valheim look sick. Mistlands is a ton of fun and added so much to the overall game, Ashlands is supposed to be bigger & better.

Added MIG and RS on SF6. Could've sworn someone else dropped their info in the thread, but couldn't find it going back several pages. :dontknow:

As the old saying goes, “You gotta get washed before you get clean.” Just have to accept you’re going get whooped a lot and you’ll have more fun. Assuming that’s the frustration lol.

Alright, hold on. I'm gonna start it up and take my whoppin'. Don't know how to start/join a friend match so you have to help with that.

It sorta is. I am legitimately not even a very competitive person. I have not minded losing; happy to rematch people and get my ass kicked again. What drives me crazy is when it feels like I should be pulling off a move, it would win me the match, but I am unable to get it off. And then I lose because of it.

I know I need to practice more, but it's just infuriating to me. I don't like not knowing what I'm doing, and don't feel like I can get it to click. It was fine when I was playing all newbies too, but I'm not anymore

I've always played as the same character since 1992. I'm still not good, but if I screw up a move 30 years later at least I know it's on me.

Labbing is just part of the process when it comes to being good at fighting games. You gotta put in the time to get the muscle memory if you want to pull it off in matches.

This was immediately noticeable when it updated. I feel like it hasn’t changed much in the past 12 years.

Man, TotK is harder than BotW. I die a lot, I’m always out of arrows, and I barely have rupees. What am I doing wrong?

Rupees definitely harder to come by in this game. But I'd say the main source of making money has been finding Gems in caves, creating meat skewers and selling those for like 90-100 rupees a pop, and then there are a few quests out there where each time you bring them back something they are giving you 100 rupees (the "taking pictures of the old Zonai writings" one comes to mind). At one point I was up to ~5,000 rupees.

As for arrows, I pretty much just buy arrows whenever I come across them. Stables, lookout landing, all the shops in the different main areas (Zora/Goron/etc.). Even if I don't need them at the moment, I always buy them. I try and always keep 50+ or more. Also, I do a lot of fusing with the arrows to just make them more efficient.

As for difficulty, yup, it's definitely harder. More mobs, tougher enemies, etc. I've had to think a lot more about fights and the enemies and proper things to fuse. Stuff like attaching exploding barrels to shields and you end up protected when it blows up, mushrooms on weapons to confuse enemies, etc. But it definitely is harder.

Cleaning up mobokin(sp?) camps generally gives you like at least 10 arrows. That and arrows like to be hidden in like 80% of boxes and barrels.

Yea, I never ran out of arrows or even came close. Just break every box and barrel you come across.

I don't like or really have time for farming materials so I ended up buying a set of ambiido cards on Amazon and I run those once or twice a week. Gives plenty of food and arrows (and good bows, swords, armor). Felt kind of silly doing it but definitely saves time.

Also, cheating makes the game so much better.

Correction, I bought off Walmarts site not Amazon because delivery was quicker. All the cards worked.

Ha yeah I felt dirty buying the cards but I justified it to myself by thinking I could get most of this stuff anyway it would just take time and warping around to different areas.

Also I Google how to do some of the shrines anyway so it's not like I'm not cheating in other ways :)

Added bonus has been my 4yr old son loves using the cards and seeing what we get.

Defector ran an article on Diablo 4 today that I thought was righteously critical of it. But it was a comment below that perfectly summed up the problem the game has:

It's been strangely unsatisfying! Numbers going up isn't the point! It's coming up with a combination of gear and skills that allow to plow through a room of demons that you couldn't previously do before. You'd get that one piece of equipment that allowed to dish out a whole new level of damage, clearing rooms faster and feeling a sense of accomplishment.

You just don't have those leaps and bounds that were present in earlier iterations. Everything is incremental. SO yeah, you got stronger, but you don't feel stronger. It's the worst kind of grind.

The two big pain points are enemy scaling and mob density. Now, the bad guys are always at the same level you are. So those player breakthroughs (oh this amazing multiplicative damage perk is gonna kill) are met equally by the other side (10X more damage and health). If you ran a dungeon (or rift) on Torment Level 1 in Diablo III, the enemies will always going to have the same health pool. So as you got stronger, you could return to level 1 and feel like a demon slaying god. Now in Diablo IV, they're always going to be as tough as you are, so you never feel strong. You never get the carrot that keeps you along for the ride. The enemy density makes no sense to me, but perhaps we'll find out there's some hardware issue where they can't put 50 enemies on the screen with you.

Diablo III (which I got into last year) is the more rewarding game right now. I'm sure IV will be too, after a few years of expansions, battle pass, and tinkering, but I'd hate for it to be anyone's entry point into ARPG's.

Bingo. Spot on. Could not possibly say it any better.

Caves, caves, caves, caves.

Buy all the arrows. Sell everything you have more than 100 of that isn't zonite.

The secret to combat is fusing high attack stuff to weapons. Attack makes a much bigger difference than botw.
