Well as always I'll give the kids a chance...but honest reaction yikes.

Black has goofy hair...handles the ball...can't shoot. Feels like Elfrid's younger brother. Plus feels redundant to Fultz and Suggs only taller. Are we required to take a Michigan player each draft? Jett felt like a reach. Hopefully he is the shooter we need but there were 2 better shooters on the board in Dick and Hawkins (Hawkins I really wanted). Now I didn't really watch either play so I could be dead wrong.

The good thing about these Michigan dudes however is my brother-n-law is a huge UM fan. Told me I'd love Franz when we took him. Correct. Told me Houstan was one of his least favorite Michigan players ever. Yupp I hate his game too. His verdict is I will love Jett. So lets see if he is 3 for 3 on Michigan to Orlando players.

I had slight hope for a trade up. Didn't get that. I didn't really care who they took at 6 (Black was on the low end of the that spectrum though). What I really wanted from 11 was shooting so if Jett can provide that awesome...but I was really hoping for Dick or Hawkins there.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

Talking about Black.

Weltman says they see Black as able to play the 1, 2 and 3.

Which reading between the lines, they're not going to play him at PG next year since they already have two incumbents eating up all the minutes.

Bad bad bad.

Sounds to me like they're planning on giving him some minutes at backup PG, SG and once in awhile... SF.

It would take a LOT for him to get starter designation at any of those three spots.

Annual tithing to the Devos family. It’s like I am watching Moneyball and Billy beane trading players for cash to make future moves.

I don’t know if these guys are going to make it but it’s worth a roster spot to find out.
Julian Phillips was more athletic than Whitmore at the combine. Amari Bailey. Rupert raw and size. Max Lewis.

Seriously the Pacers can draft 4 guys and we can’t manage to roster 3.

I am fine with their evaluations in the picks they made but it’s ridiculous not to make these high second rounders with some of the crap on the end of our bench

Draft and stash the Vuc kid….FFS

We all agree that one of Paolo and Franz should be on the floor all the time right? Can Franz be an effective PF if he shares time with Jett?

Without a trade, there are not point guard minutes period. Not as a starter or as a backup.

No team plays three point guards in their rotation.

Are we keeping the 36th pick or did we trade it?

So we're not even keeping this guy? God reminds me of sending Sabonis out

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Tell your brother in law he made at least one fellow Magic fan optimistic on Jett Howard, so many thanks.

It's not just that, it honestly feels like we just throw it away to whatever team calls us first, no matter how **** the offer (as long as we get our precious cash considerations). Anyway, Andre Jackson is an interesting prospect, even if he apparently has some injury concerns.

One last note, kind of curious there have been basically no big trades with actual veteran nba players tonight. I thought some movement was expected? But there's basically been nothing, unless I missed something?

PS. In Hogified05's brother-in-law we trust.

Those reasosn helped humbled me a while back. I used to be one of those fans who would get fired up and upset if and when the Magic pick a player I didn't want at times. Don't get me wrong, the Magic have laid eggs on some players in the past. Sometimes, they may get it right. I simply learn to take the emotion out of it. Check by the categories where our weaknesses are and make a list of players who help improve our weaknesses and go from there. Keep the logistics on point. Keep the emotions out. That's how business works forever and always.

If you go by our draft picks over the last 23 years, it appears our scouts also might be casuals. Seriously, look it up, our draft history has been dreadful. Most players were either outright busts or injury prone. Over 23 years we've had maybe a handful of players that were serviceable or better that stayed healthy and played for us for an extended period of time.

Now we're hoping out 1st round pick guards can replace our recent 1st round pick guards. It's time we take a long hard look at our scouting methods and personnel because clearly we have room to improve.

Making picks in the draft isn't as easy as advertise. Think about how many #1 draft picks go bust throughout the years. The same way can go any pick in the draft. It's literally a roll of the dice. You might roll a lucky seven or roll a snake eyes. It will happen. Sometimes, the scouts may get it wrong and fail to do their due diligence on their player research. There are times the scouts get it right and the team's coaching staff fail to do their jobs and develop their players to best fit and improve the young player's trajectory of their skills set for the present and future.

The Lightning in the span of the last decade or so have drafted 5 hall of famers and numerous high quality role players. The Rays are widely known as having one of the best farm systems in MLB, constantly churning out young prospects that produce. Compare them to the Magic. I don't have unreasonable expectations, but the failures the Magic have shown in the draft in recent DECADES is inexcusable, they're one of the worst drafting teams across all professional sports which is why this rebuild never ends.

Many teams can get the number 1 pick right, where you separate yourself is being able to find quality players outside of that. Whether it's in the lottery, outside of it, or the second round, the Magic do poorly in all of them. We can't use the generic "drafting is hard" excuse when so many teams do it so much better. After awhile a pattern takes shape and it's time to re-evaluate some things.

We won’t make a single one of them but we can turn 4 of them into James Ennis

Can I do worse than nearly every player across the past 23 years being a bust, injury prone, or playing elsewhere after a couple of seasons?

Nope.

This team is young as **** and people are annoyed at not bringing in 3 rookies?
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

For Christ's sake, some of you need to get off your high horses.

They made the picks. It may not be your guys. They may be wrong, they may be right.

Take this night to vent, then sleep, chill, and you'll wake up and realize the world isn't over and then maybe they'll surprise you.

The roster is still taking shape, FA hasn't started, and this team is still incomplete from what it'll look like when it's competing in a few years from now.
