Reeko wrote:I love the pick. I couldn't believe he was still there at 13 and I was literally praying for us to take him or Bufkin, but low key expecting to hear "The Raptors select Olivier Maxence Prosper". Gradey was one of my favorite college players this season. I think people are sadly mistaken if they think that he's just going to be a 3 point specialist. Look at his college numbers next to Klay and they're nearly identical, and then give Gradey a bit of a bump for playing in the best conference in the NCAA.

I hope you're right. Guess now we wait for summer league.

At first I was a little down because I thought it was a safe/low ceiling high floor type pick. I thought there were more dynamic prospects.

But after awhile I felt a little bit more positive. I don’t know how much of his athleticism will transfer in the NBA and his frame and lateral quickness worry me but his shooting and size is intriguing. If he can develop some kind of Iso game he could be a solid contributor because he’s already an elite shooter with decent dribbling.

I'm gonna be honest that I preferred Bufkin but I'm not gonna lie, I was also talking up Gradey as a pick prior to the draft. He's a good prospect.

I think everyone expected Orlando to pick him and we were surprised he was available. That Jett Howard pick was terrible.

Ultimately Gradey is gonna be a needed shooter on this team and we picked someone that could potentially be among the best shooters in the league down the road. He also plays with SWAG but still hustles on both ends and his goofy white boy energy will mesh well with scottie's vibes.

As I said the Toronto gentrifiers have their new fave player and he will be an impact player if we implement some good ole movement shooting actions into our offense. Let's see some floppy dick out there! :-? :banghead:

If you consider the "poor shooter, good defender" era wasn't great either...

Gradey isn't even consider a bad defender though. He's a pretty active defender (1.4 steals this season), a solid team and off ball defender who tries and competes hard. Might struggle a bit in one on one coverage in the NBA, but I think he will probably rate out as an average-ish defender at the NBA level.

Would have preferred Podziemski, but I can live with it.

Really wanted Bufkin. But even before looking into all the prospects, one of the first things I said was I hope we draft someone that is not a project in shooting. Lo and behold we draft probably the best shooter in the draft. Go figure.

He's going to struggle man on man defense in NBA vs the top athletic wings. More versatile a scorer than most people think. Don't really like the fit on this roster currently.

Seems very similar to OG personality-wise. Which is dope.

How does a potential elite shooter not fit on this roster?

He's not great 1 on 1 defender, I watched quite a bit of Kansas games and he does have defensive awareness, knows his place in schemes, and was a starter on a Kansas team that was top 10 in defense for most of the season last year. I mean I think he'll prove to be as good on defensive as Herro or better and the like so I'm not deeply concerned. IMO Nurse's weakness was his inability to hide the weaknesses of his players, whereas Spo is able to get results with guys with defensive deficiencies.

If Fred & Yak return, Trent off bench, mix in Achiuwa/Boucher. He's going to be a 15 minute bench guy just by default. That is the current situation, who knows if trades occur or further changes.

15 minutes a game sounds about right for a rookie. I dont see a problem.

This is the real answer.

It was a great pick and this core still sucks. More moves need to be made.
