This isn't the 1970s
Most of these guys are pro at some level. Not great money, but can earn a decent living.

Yep there are leagues everywhere now. Even Africa, Puerto Rico.
I picked a random team in Puerto Rico (Grises de Humacao) and it has:
Jannis Timma (2022 Magic Summer League player)
Zavier Simpson (2022 G-League player)
Justin Dentmon (former Spur/Raptor/Maverick)
Thomas Robinson (former #5 pick)
But yeah a lot of teams/leagues out there.

Wow... Timma was exiled to South America? They have TRob???
Alright. Our SL rosters really are all pros. I would have thought a couple of them were normal 9-5 guys who are in shape by playing in the ymca regularly and the highlights of their year is they know somebody who knows somebody who is the owners son and thus get to play in the SL to relive their glory days as the big man on campus. Lol

Meh, this is all organic. Dumb but organic. And all for the clickbaits. Socials, particularly YouTube is pretty profitable. So over here, we just find it funny, and dumb, but we know which content NOT to click.
Then again, more than half the population aren’t as wise— this is the same strategy as our politicians (pseudo authoritarians/kleptocrats in Duterte and Marcos our last two presidents) and something you (Referring to Americans) experienced in Trump’s rise to power.
So yeah it’s funny and dumb when used for basketball reasons and just sad and dumb when it’s in the political arena.
Magic FB page i believe had ~1M followers more after that post of your Summer League roster

D.J. Wilson is a name that stands out. He is probably playing for one of the two 2Way contracts. He's got game, and it feels like it's about his time to be in the NBA for a full season. Plus he's a Wolverine, and that kind of has to be in his favour, right?

Orlando has been talking about getting a vet guard. How about an NBA champion for the roster:

Re: Summer League Roster
THought's on the Harvard kid: Robert Baker? He shoots the ball well, on paper. I know nothing about him.
Tall stretch forward.
Kid has a LinkedIn account. That's ace!
Economics degree from Harvard; I am guessing things will work out for him after basketball.

He has a bit of skills. There are lots to be developed for consistency (3 pt shooting specifically, a skill he needs if he wants an NBA contract). He’s also soft for a big and needs to learn to play through/finish on contact.
What he is is a tall guy with a soft touch around the rim, and can attack the basket when aggressive (which is another room for improvement)
Am worried about the 22 man roster for your SL since that won’t give much playing time to anyone. I don’t expect him to be signed by the Magic but rather if anyone is signing him it would be another team as a stash even or a Gleague squad.
His real “audtion” for the NBA won’t be in Vegas (unless for some weird reason he gets to play 20+ minutes per outing, which is not happening) but in the FIBA World Cup in August.
The Philippines is grouped with Italy, Angola and Dom Republic— relatively easier group compared to others. As the best player in that squad (well next to Jordan Clarkson if he plays, Sotto will definitely be exposed to top competition and going up against big men that will test his readiness at the (pro) level.
His stints in Australia and Japan leaves much to be desired; but this World Cup will be different since he’s guaranteed to have a considerable increase in playing time in the tournament.

I honestly hope he doesnt play against Jalen Duren in the first game. Lol jalen might just destroy him.
But i agree, the real audition isnt summer league.
Also, based on previous summer league games, we only
Play our guys half of the tournament games. So everyone gets a fair chance. He’ll probably end up playing two games max.
