Kings making some moves, man. Resigned Barnes and Lyles. Added Duarte and Vezenkov.
Only guy they lost was Holmes, who was really bad for them and wasn't adding anything anyways.
Their GM has done a really good job these past 2 or 3 yrs.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

It wouldn't shock me if OKC now looks to trade Micic. By signing him to this type of contract first, it allows them to get more value back via trade. Due to salary matching. If they traded him without a contract (and simply traded his rights), all they would probably get back is draft compensation.
Look at Sasha Vezenkov - he was being stashed overseas, with no NBA contract. The Cavs had his rights, but a year ago the Cavs traded his rights to Sacramento for draft compensation.
Plus, other teams may now be more open to negotiating a trade for Micic with OKC, since now they won't have to worry about going through the whole process of working with Micic and his agent on negotiating a contract. OKC has done that for them. Other teams might not want to trade for his "rights" because there's risk involved - what if the team and Micic can't agree on contract terms or the team can't get the contract terms to be to their liking? What if they can't get him to agree to a salary number that allows them to stay under the cap or under the 2nd apron? Trading for Micic just became much less complex. It's now more cut and dry, now that he has a contract.
Trading for Micic rights is like putting an item in your shopping cart and getting all the way to the register without knowing how much it costs. Well, now teams know how much he costs..it makes more sense to (is smarter shopping) to know the price of something before putting it into your shopping cart.
OKC now has a VERY crowded back court. You have Giddey and SGA, plus Cason Wallace who they just traded up to get with the 10th pick in the draft. You would think these 3 guys would be the guards they prioritize getting minutes for, especially being a young, rebuilding team - why give mins to 29 year old Micic over them? Plus they have Isaiah Joe, who's 23 and Tre Mann, who's 22.
OKC has a ton of guards and wings but they're very thin at the 4 and 5 spots. I wouldn't be surprised if they now look to trade Micic (or possibly Joe or Mann) for some help at the 4/5 spots..
Micic isn't gonna want to come over from Europe to play behind a bunch of young kids on a play-in time.
For such little money he would be a great player for the Celtics to target and trade for. A relatively big guard who can playmake and shoot. We just need someone to come in and set up the table and get some easy looks for our 3 artillery pieces out there.
3 years too is right about where everyone on our roster is signed for.

Please there are posters on this board who probably wouldn't trade Smart straight up for Dame. They would have lost their **** slightly less than they did regarding Porzingis.
Hes a Miami Heat. Celtics can match salary without giving up Porzingis Brown Rob or Tatum. They can even give a better package out of that to the Blazers than the Heat would. The problem is that Dame will not come to Boston. He wants to go to Miami or Brooklyn thats it. I don't want a disgruntled superstar and wondering if he's going to show up

Dang, I was really hoping HOU would be able to tempt him with one of their massive overpays and that would cripple the Bucks.
It'd be impossible for them to replicated what he can do on defense while getting his 3s if he left.
Looks like the Bucks are back and fully loaded just with the same question they had last year, will Middleton return to form this year or not.

I know this is the trade thread but Tatum must really like JD to single him out and say time to get to work, the thread had some other SL player and Walsh but he specifically tagged JD.
Come on Brad, call him up!!

Dame White Tatum Porzingis Horford is a pretty good starting 5.

Rockets massively overpaid VanVleet, forced Bucks to overpay for Lopez. Who's the next guy they're gonna overpay for? Dillon Brooks hopes it's him otherwise he's got nowhere to go.

They are having to let go of solid PFs like KJ Martin. I don't see them paying big money for a free agent PF.

Shamrock wrote:Hal14 wrote:Shamrock wrote:What's the consensus on trading Brown for Lillard?
I would do it.
But if we can get Lillard without moving JB (so Brogdon + other guys), it would be preferred.
Yeah it's an interesting one. I think if we added him our team solves it's biggest issue - lack of penetration/ball handling against teams like Miami. Plus it takes away from the Heat who will be tough to beat with a Lillard/Butler/Bam combo. And add a real killer/leader who plays big in big moments
Lillard is just a much better player than JB, too. Lillard was 10th in the NBA last season with a BPM of 7.1. JB was 66th in the league with a BPM of 1.3. Yikes..
Lillard is also a much better fit with Tatum & Porzingis. JB is redundant with Tatum (both are score-first wings but neither of them is an elite shooter, neither is an elite defender, neither is an elite playmaker) and also redundant with Tatum and Porzingis (all 3 are high usage guys, high scorers, but none of them are elite defensively, none are elite playmakers).
The last 13 NBA champions have had a guy with a 30% or higher assist rate. With the way our roster stands right now, our highest assist % guy last season was Brogdon, at 21.5%. That is an extremely low number for your leading assist % guy. Compare that to Dame, who has had better than a 30% assist rate SEVEN times in his career, including each of the past 6 seasons. 35% assist rate just last season.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything
