This thread is a good example of that with their attachment to Scottie. LOL. I didn't hear what Will Lou said but why is that theory any crazier than some of the ones we've been hearing on here? The reality is we don't know what happened.

Bro you’re entire existence on this forum is the greatest example of any person being attached to Fred

I don't really see a lot of people who hate Fred coming out and making a determination that Scottie is a guaranteed perennial all-star. Most of us are realists and have 0 attachment to Scottie. If Scottie plays like crap the next couple of years I have 0 problem moving on from him. I don't anticipate that will happen but if it did, bye Scottie.

Same applies to anyone else. You have to perform in a way that elevates the team or you're gone. There is no blind loyalty.

Our new coach: “Scottie is so talented that the future of the team can be built around him, and we will do that,” he underlined on the 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year, Scottie Barnes,

Sounds like he's going to try to replicate what he did with desmond bane. Bane was aparentely very uncomfortable initially with this and then obviously got great results.

I'll present the counter point from the Nurse/Fred school of basketball devotees:

A possible step back? No, I'd rather continue with an inefficient combo guard driven offense that has proven to not translate to the playoffs, culminating in an embarrassing play-in loss to the moribund Bulls.

It is better that we stay locked in this prison of below average struggle to attain mediocrity with no present or future than seek a path that could lead us out of it.

Lol I like the first question, “what msg are u tryna install in the youngsters??”

Scottie damn near younger than all the guys on the SL team

Lol we’re truly blessed for the Tampa season tank cuz if we limped into a play in/first round exit that year, we would literally have no hope for the future. Scottie at least gives us something to look forward to

My buddy is in Vegas and staying at the same hotel that Scottie is, told me he saw him flirting with 3 girls at once.

Those new teeth + no more Fred gaslighting have unlocked a new level of confidence. Might actually get to the ECF this year.

Based on my body language expertise, he just looks way more loose than he did in any interview last year. And it looks like some heavy weight has been lifted. He's also just sounding more mature.

Loved hearing from Darko that if we need to take a small step back we'll have to do it to take that bigger step forward. Masai definitely seems to have found a guy who thinks more along his line of thinking

the organization is definitely making this Barnes team
pecking order meant losing to play-in game and getting killed by above 500 teams
so something had to give

Most players are far more loose in the offseason. Don't think many players would have been very loose last year given the disappointing year they had. Glad to see Scottie acknowledge Fred's role on the team. Seems to line up with what Esfandiar Baraheni reported last week.

Glad to see Scottie be politically correct with a question where he was lead into saying something about FVV. Always good to not rub people the wrong way. Made a couple of good comments and quickly turned it to us just needing to go out and win games. It's good to see him figure it out at a young age. Maybe he did pick up a couple of tricks with the media game from FVV.

Regardless of whatever personal clashes there may have been between the young guys and Fred, it's fairly obvious that OG and Barnes on court interests didn't mesh with the Nurse/Fred combo.

Fred and Lowry by all accounts were great buddies, but even Fred admitted that he wasn't going to be able to take the role he wanted (but didn't fit) until he left.

This dynamic needed to end for the betterment of our team and long term future, even though it happened entirely by luck.

But, Masai waited too long to act... luckily, Houston bailed him out on Fred. Now with the enabler Nurse also gone, that's two positives! ... how he handles Pascal and OG EXTENTIONS, trades or other will define him...

The Scottie haters must be seething seeing the organization pivot to building around him.

I'm surprised it took Masai this long to see the light. He wanted his Giannis so badly, and when he finally got him, he opted to build around a 6'1" PG instead. But I guess it's better late than never.

Horrendous signings (Thad, Birch,...) and carrying dead weight like Flynn has really diminished the prior good rep Raptors had. Not trading Fred after they drafted Scottie was the biggest mistake... getting peanuts for your top 20 nba player Pascal could be next...

I heard the Darko comment on the broadcast and what he was referring to with Scottie was his development path I think and how he took a small step back last year. So I don’t think he is talking about the Raptors talking a step back this year. Not that I think he opposes that.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
