K-Harris proved he will make the roster as a 2way player. He proved his case!
So: let Black play lead guard. K-Harris can go to whatever gym Anthony is working out in and just come to the games for support.

I know nothing about Kai Sotto but thought it was weird we were putting a SG at the PF spot when they were playing two centers. Is Kai really that bad??

Might as well play Kai…can’t be much worse than DJ Wilson. It’s not workable to bungle uncontested rebounds in a tight game-even at the YMCA. I respect DJ still fighting for his Bball life, but no bueno.

Kevon looked strong …why the hell is he there? And why are they giving him so many minutes in the Kobe role?
(Sit down old man, we’re trying to see what we’ve got here…even just for Osceola)
They are probably trying to decide whether or not to give Kevon an NBA contract. I wouldn't oppose letting Gary Harris go next season and giving Kevon a deal.

Detroit played 3 of their rotational players. They would've crushed us without Kevon. We need him next game against Nembhard and Mathurin, too.

kai sotto said dylan murphy talked to the 5 players who got dnp-cd, the priority is to give minutes first to the players under contract.

To me this is the best thing that happened to kai, he gets less exposure against nba talent.

When he does get in…he’ll likely get smashed & exposed. Perhaps the DET veteran bigs was deemed most likely to ruin him, so better to wait for a game where he might actually have a chance to please his fans. Strong rooks will likely play less as SL goes on and the sideshow commences fully.

While I do believe Kai will get destroyed by Duren, I highly doubt that being the reason.

Its been SOP of this team since two summer leagues ago, to prioritize players under contract.

Should we read anything into the Magic players that were (were not) there to support the team in Vegas.
Notably absent:
Fultz
Carter

Seemed like a good group out there.

No. I wouldn't read anything into it whatsoever. It's the summer and these guys are off the clock so to speak.

I wish we could find a way to have Kevon in the 4-man guard rotation.

Don't know about WCJ but Fultz has a wife and has kids, kind of stupid to blame him not been in Vegas in the offseason. His job is to be ready for the season, not to cheer for the rookies at the summer league game.

Seriously though: is there any place on earth more associated to magic than Las Vegas?

we dont know if the team made their plane available. I can see it both ways. You have 2 lottery picks you know will be on the team next season, could be there for team purposes. But then, Black could be seen as someone to replace him, so i could also see why he might not want to come out. And Markelle isnt married and only has 1 kid.

Yeah we did him a solid. However, if he does get beaten down by Wiseman and Duren, maybe it would shut up all those clamoring for him to play?

As I said, the mostly "older" Magic players are the ones not there. JI , Fultz ,Gary , WCJ....

I'd prefer to have Fultz working on his game than rooting for 2 lottery picks.

Ultimately I think he'll be fine but been hearing from some of my fam who are raptors fans and checking online..... They not feeling gradey so much, some saying they expected more.... I'm sitting here wondering what else they expected? At this point in his career he's a specialist, if his shot isn't falling what do you expect from him?

This guy in the GB put it succinctly to what I think people unequivocally get wrong about summer league:

"The value of stats is proportional to the role the player will play in the coming season i.e. it is no use if a player is averaging 30 per game as a scorer when their role is going to be off the bench facilitator for the second unit."

Yeah I think Dick will shine during regular games where opponents are concentrating more on his more established teammates.
