Watching the game now (still in Europe). Black is having a really rough shooting night. That pass to DJ Wilson was fire though. Also, loving the defense.

Whoever put this summer league team together needs to be reevaluated.

Re: Orlando Magic Vegas Summer League Games Thread Discussion
Absolute trash SL roster, so v hard to evaluate AB and Jett.
Houstan looks every bit the definition of mediocrity I thought he'd be pre-draft.
Jett has a bit more suddenness to his movement that - fingers crossed - hopefully points to his Michigan games being injury-related outliers. The floor vision shows up again. Defensively he tries hard.
Only saw highlights, so cant speak to AB's shooting woes, but defensively he was a monster. Sharing the floor with absolute scrubs, his playmaking couldn't possibly have a chance to shine, but there were a couple of great reads and passes.
Jarace Walker looked the biz.

Re: Orlando Magic Vegas Summer League Games Thread Discussion
As a die hard fan, this summer league has been brutal for us.
Sucks that quite a few others are injured shut down.
Seems like our team is rookies and the first few fans that got into the stadium that are over 6 foot.
Already back to thinking about the basketball World Cup to fill the basketball need. (Along with you tube of games from 95 and 09 )

This is tough on the eyes. Houstan played well from what I saw but do we not have a power forward on the roster? It seems like we have 1 and we start him at center for some reason lol.
I’m excited for AB in the league.

On Wednesday, play our top 4 players for the 1st half, then have them be done.
their time would be better used just hanging out with the roster players.

Re: Orlando Magic Vegas Summer League Games Thread Discussion
That was bad. Not even sure if we can call that product summer league worthy.
Houstan, Howard, AB should have equaled a fun roster with a common myraid of players looking to fight for a roster spot.
The officiating was also a bunch of D league scrubs from the game thread. What an embarrassment.
I've seen enough to say that Mr Black is a NBA player his first year. Howard jury is out but groundwork is there, and Houstan is the very definition of bench warmer but you got to have players like that on an NBA roster too.

He also had 69% FG on non-3 point shot attemps. Witch is very impressive.
He simply shouldn't shoot that many 3s, given how cold he was.

Either way, it's hard to judge players in summer league. Our backcourt has gone up against Mathurin and Nembhard. Then Ivey and Thompson.pepe1991 wrote:basketballRob wrote:Franz shot 15% from 3 and 67% from the line in 4 Summer League games

Another very strong box score from Baker.
How does he look actually playing and not as x/o's on a box score?
If I was PBO/GM, I would definitely ink him to one of the two available 2Way contacts.

Wow... every post has been like #letkaiplay and Magic deserves to lose.
Ok i havent wanted to pull a player down as much as i want kai to do so. So all those posters would shut up. When we face the Knicks i want that fata$$ former Dukie 6'3 Keels to dunk on kai.
On the family pic the Magic posted, one comment said "I hope you all get injured". Lunatics for a non NBA talent.

I think he has only one or two four-point plays in him for the year though, and he just used it up in a summer league game. I liked the Weltman interview where he said AB makes everyone else better. I think this pick is designed to really get the max out of Paolo, Franz, and the others.
How exactly does not being able to shoot and having to drive a ton help out Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner who have more complete, efficient games as point forwards. I’m genuinely trying to understand how giving Paolo less post plays and elbow plays, less point forward possessions is a good thing.
Basketball IQ. Paolo and Franz won't need to create on their own as much. Black will help find them. I'm not the biggest Black homer, but he does help his teammates get easier looks.

I really tried to not let my Baylor Bear bias shine during the pre-draft process but now the draft is behind us, I gotta say … I really liked and still like George. I think we are going to regret passing on him at 11. That is all.
