There are a decent number of examples from people I can remember - and these are examples of all-stars or superstars that became above average to elite shooters.
I can find a lot more examples of rotational or really good players who also have improved from being below average-bad to just average-slightly above average, which is probably more along the lines of what you will see from Black.
if you're expecting him to turn into Curry or something though, then yeah, obviously he will fall very short.
