Would love to see Oubre back. Always thought he got a bad rap here and he didn't do himself any favors by sitting out of play-in where the Suns really started to turn things around. But I love the dude as a vibes guy and as a guy who can just give you 20 on a random night. He has his flaws but he brings A LOT of firepower and I think he can lock in defensively as well. He brings another shot creator/ball handler that could certainly replace what we lost in Cam but without the assists.

The problem is how to get him. The guy is coming off $12m a year and I expect he would want something around that. The only thing we can offer is an opportunity on a contender with a familiar setting and the $6.5m TPE from the Cam trade but there are still about 9 teams with at least $10m left in their MLE to give to him (if they wanted him).

Prefer someone younger and hungry for an opportunity rather than an older dude who hasn't been playable in the last two postseasons.

I would agree (for the minimum) if we wouldn't have signed Eric Gordon, but with him already on the roster Oubre isn't a good fit.

Oubre doesn't pass the ball and he plays just for himself. On a contender he would fit as an scorer coming from the bench but we are set at that.

Are we though? Gordon has been healthy last season but an injury to a 35 year old wouldn't be unexpected and we would be reliant on one of the starters for points if Gordon was to be sidelined. Oubre would probably be an over-qualified scorer off the bench but on a contender, I'd rather have a stacked bench than walking a fine line between solid and inexperienced.

What is nice about these trade exceptions is that if the Suns have a major injury to any of the vet minimum players (e.g. Gordon), simply try to execute a trade and then waive the injured player. Likewise, if one if them is seriously underperforming (e.g., Wainwright) or being drama queen (e.g., Bol).

Mishbia has blown away every assumption I had of a new owner. After two decades under Sarver, I expected some noticeable trade-offs or cutbacks here and there so we could afford a very expensive roster but man, his short tenure as the Suns owner can only be summed up as

Listened to the interview he said is not something that will happen in the next few weeks but doesn’t plan on it taking too much longer. My prediction is announcement around start of camp and team ready before the season after this one.

Don't see any way he comes back, Book did not like Oubre, and don't see the fit he would want the ball too much.

You sure it was that?

I think it was more the Kendall Jenner thing - since Oubre laid the pipe before Booker got serious with her, which would make for a weird locker room pairing.

It would be very sweet/fitting to finally see Oubre in a Valley jersey I mean dude literally started the Valley Boys brand. He was such an integral part of the momentum shift in Phoenix. Offensively with both he and Gordon the bench would have serious firepower.

Gambo says he doesn't think Oubre back to the Suns would happen in this response to someone who asked him.

I still feel dirty quoting that guy.

He quit on the team during the bubble too so there is that, not happening.

It wasnt quite so simple - I mean dude was coming back from a torn meniscus and stated that he didn't trust it.

Ya, he was spotted dining with her, partying, and leaving her hotel room.

More inclined to take Gambo's word over new Flex. Gambo said no but sounded less sure than his usual tweets.

I assume we are just talking about Kelly Oubre for fun since the off-season is pretty much dead at this point.

I imagine the Suns are anticipating the Blazers dealing Lillard and perhaps getting Kyle Lowry back to make salaries work, Lowry may likely get bought out or waived. Lowry has shown he doesn't mind coming off the bench so he would be the ideal backup PG for the Suns if he is on the market.

So if we're running a team like this:

Beal, Booker, Okogie, Durant, Ayton
Goodwin, Gordon, Bates-Diop, Watanabe, Eubanks
Lee, Lee, Wainright, Camara, Bol, Metu

My barometers will be:

- Beal and Goodwin have to be hits as PG.
- Okogie and Goodwin have to be hits as perimeter defenders.

If that happens I think we're favourites for the championship.

Second is even more important. Book will chip in with ballhandling and playmaking, KD with playmaking and halfcourt offense.
We need somebody to shut down dudes 1 to 3.

Don't think there is room for Kelly BUT, I saw nothing suggesting Book didn't like Kelly! Quite the opposite, they worked out against/together that offseason and book seemed to feed BIG TIME off Kelly's energy, steeling his swag with the push ups and head pops!! Kelly was good for us and the Valley Boys!! He played himself into a big trade.
