Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 4
Terance Mann is not a young prospect at this point but I still think there's a little more juice to squeeze in his game mainly as someone who can initiate offensive sets which is important with Harden gone. According to cleaning the glass, 46% of Mann's minutes last season were played at point guard and the clippers offensive rating was 121.3 (91%tile compared to other point guards). Mann is also good at getting to the rim which is another important skill that I think the team might struggle with next year.
And just by the few games I've seen of Mann, he seems to have a good feel on offense and keeps the ball moving. I think a lot of Mann's strengths are some of Maxey's weaknesses and vice versa. I think they would make for a fun pairing.

Reports are not always accurate but if you do want to talk about what has been reported, how about what Jake Fischer wrote a few days ago.
"And Harden’s side sees Los Angeles’ roster — with young blue-chippers like Terance Mann and valuable postseason contributors like Norman Powell — plus a collection of usable contracts and first-round draft capital to make a deal happen"
So if this is to be believed, Harden's own camp expects the clippers to give up some solid assets in this deal. Of course the clippers are going to play hard ball and not give up the farm right away and the sixers will do the same. This is a negotiation and no one wants to give an inch right now. Reports will continue to trickle in and we'll get a better picture of what's going on. This is still in the early stages.
Harden camp threw the Rockets out there as a chip to get a long-term deal, what they think is irrelevant, he's not the one negotiating a trade.

It’s plural lol. Young blue-chipperS, and they mention a 27 year old who is prob best suited as a backend starter or for a reserve role.
I need to hear more about these blue-chippers lol

Yea, but it was reported that Harden to Houston was very real and should be believed. It's not like Harden was doing interviews himself and saying he was talking to Houston. NBA writers were reporting Harden to Houston was legit just like NBA writers are reporting that the clippers aren't willing to give up Mann or picks in a trade. So if the Harden to Houston reports could be wrong than the reports about the clippers not willing to give up anything for Harden can also be wrong. That's my point. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

You have to look at the motives behind the reporting.
Who do you think leaked the story on Christmas Day that Harden was interested in going back to Houston? Why do you think that story was put out there?

Hot take: Austin Reaves wouldn't even be a thing if he played for the Charlotte Hornets. Typical LA overhype.

There was a thread on the trade board
Sixers: DLO, Reaves, Prince
Lakers: Harden AND Maxey.
The Reaves hype is ridiculous. Dude has one massive series, but so what. He played 4 years of college and now just finished his 2nd pro season. Averaged almost 30 minutes a game and scored like 13 in the reg season. He's a poor man's Tyler Herro at best.

Yep. As mediocre as they come. 100% due to LA overhype.

Sign Harden to a long term deal, bring back Niang and use the 5.6 MLE on a veteran?
Whether we end up with an all-star or not next year, having all that cap space puts us in better position to build the roster long term. If we cant get a star, we can get better role players than Niang and whomever we would have gotten with the mini-MLE. Perhaps we use the cap space to acquire assets or to move up in next years draft since we actually have our pick. In the meantime, we get to really evaluate Maxey before we commit to him long term, We get to see Reed with more minutes and probably getting time at PF, we get to see a more innovative coach behind the wheel and we can see if having some actual center depth helps Joel stay healthy.
Hardly a wasted season, imo.
Nice to see a sane viewpoint now and then that looks beyond the here and now.
This has been the plan I've hoped to see since the season ended. Stop chasing imaginary 'windows' and build something lasting.

That might be the most idiotic of a lot of idiotic trade proposals we've seen this summer. I wouldn't trade Maxey or Harden straight up for DLo.

It's says Ruff but the Ruff Ryder's "R"s were distinguishable so I can confirm that ain't the same font.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 4
Call me crazy, but I think Morey is setting the table, maybe in some part with inappropriate backchannels, to try to have Doncic demand a trade specifically to the Sixers next offseason. We know Irving will burn that franchise like he does everywhere, it’s just a question whether it will be done by next offseason.
It’s why he keeps talking about flexibility “with one of the best players in the world”. It’s a marketing pitch with a specific audience.

So Luka asks for a trade, and we trade capspace?
Hmmm, feel like it'll take more than that. No point in Luka unless we have Maxey.

If I'm Luka, I'd rather go to the Knicks. Jalen Brunson took them to the 2nd round & he's about to get his jersey put in the rafters at MSG. He can link up with his old running mate & have a shot at becoming a living legend in NYC by taking the Knicks to the Finals.

i want to say that if Luka is going to get traded, he’s gonna land at Rox with all the assets Rox have.
But with how things are going, Luka can say he wants to only play for the Nuggets and Nuggets will just give them salaries and 3 picks and 2 swaps and its gonna get it done.
