Yeah after about 2 full courts presses and subsequent turnovers, the Scottie as PG nose should quiet down.

People believe in his ability to improve from year 2 to 3 and his passion/acumen for the point guard position. It’s not like he hasn’t played point guard before and it’s not like he doesn’t have elite passing skills and it’s not like he isn’t the future of the franchise.

If the team really struggles over the first 20 games, or if Scottie clearly doesn’t have it in training camp, then they can pivot.

That's a weird release close up from behind, never noticed from normal angle away. At least there's no hitch and release point is fine. He repeated make so should be fine. Not sure how it will affect midair/off balance shot if its not a set shot tho

Yeah posting on realgm is sooo cool. Give me a break. I've been saying it for a while, don't think Scotties handle isn't good enough to play point.

Imo he'd be a beast as a point forward....Guaranteed 20/10/5

Just curious, what's your definition of point guard and point forward? Other the height, would they playing differently?

Imo your PG should be a threat with his dribble. He should be able to beat his man off the dribble.and get into the paint, either through the the pick n roll or 1v1. And he should be a threat of shooting it in the midrange. I mean if he's the ball handler in the pnr, teams will just sag off of him and dare him to hit an off the dribble midrange pull up.

I think he'd would be great as a screen setter, playing in the short roll and finding cutters or using one or two dribbles from that spot to make a play.

And he's just too much of a physical presence to have out on the perimeter. When he wants to use his size, especially with how small teams are.l.playing now, he would feast inside. Not sure why they wouldn't want to exploit that.

The roster needs nother guard who can beat his man off the dribble, play the pnr, be somewhat of a threat from 3 or one who can hit a jumper.

Maybe I'm wrong and he'll make me eat crow this year but I'm just not seeing the skillset of PG in his game.

You don’t think we can exploit his size, and the overall size of the lineup from the point guard position? That’s an interesting take. Did Magic have the same issue?

I just can't get excited by this season.

While I'm not hating on Gradey, I still don't like the pick, seems like he's going to be a role player and I like Yak but if we were going to send 2 firsts to SAS for Thad & Yak, I much rather have used that to get Turner for a C that makes much more sense that could've spread the floor for Scottie & Pascal.

This is gonna be such a horribly bland year & we'll have no draft pick to show for it. Until I see some other major trade happen, Masai is trending to becoming Dumars 2.0.

Again the Dumars 2.0 analogy is so overstated. Masai has a really long way of having awful teams for many years to get to that level.

Dumars was a pretty bad drafting GM overall, even when his Pistons teams were elite. Other than getting Prince in 2002, his picks of Darko and White at #2 and #9 were certified busts.

After 2008, he had 6 straight years of garbage teams finishing 39-43, 27-55, 30-52, 25-41, 29-53 and 29-53. During that time and despite having lottery picks every year his best pick was Drummond. He drafted busts in Stuckey and Daye. When Dumars was fired, his core of Jennings, Josh Smith and Drummond was laughable at best. Not only did the Pistons suck for 6 straight years, he had virtually no young promising assets except for Drummond. That's just horrible.

After the chip he also made some god awful deals - trading Billups for AI, trading Knight for Jennings, trading Afflalo for cash etc.

2 first for Thad Koloko and Yak to be exact. If you potentially shore up your C position with solid rim protecting/team defensive players for like the next 7+ years that's more than solid. Koloko has the opportunity to develop some range as well.

As for Gradey, outside of Cam who else should've been the pick? And Cam dropped so far that clearly there was something behind the scenes that rubbed ppl the wrong way right or wrong, I'm not going to fault them on that when potentially the best shooter in the draft was sitting right there in Raptor Red already...

Hope your summer went well.

Making the move for Yak and not Turner is still nuts to me lol.

Makes me seriously question Masai’s roster building.

I'm cool with the Gradey pick may not help too much this year but having a lights out movement shooter to slot into your halfcourt offense is huge and will open things. Plus the potential of the Scottie & Dick DHO with be tough to deal with as they improve.

In terms of Masai I haven't been happy with the roster building post championship but he isn't close to Dumars. He's just not at the mountain top anymore and it's understandable why people are frustrated with that. It makes us feel that our team lost its edge.
