Yeah... no one can stop Franz.
You saw his 3s were waaaaaay behind the 3pt line. O gotta ask, is FIBA 3pt line same as the nba or shorter?

Happy for the Wagner boys.
Just need Germany to win the gold now.
Let someone else coach the US team if this is going to be the roster moving forward. Can’t just run this team out there and expect them to win on talent alone. Need someone who can make adjustments and not just sit there like a f****** Easter Island statue.

Sucks for team USA, congrats Germany. I said it before the tournament started and I will say it again, why make Paolo a center when he excelled all season long as a PF is beyond me. I am going to assume that his thumb injury is bothering him more than he is letting on.

Let's be objective. US team isn't THAT talented.
If you get dominated by Thies, Valenciunas and Vučević on same tournament, it just means you don't have roster nor players to defend bigs, bigs that are very, very, very important for such competition where guards can get shut down because they don't have much space to drive nor bigs need to leave paint to meet them there.
What USA team has , is bunch of B and C level stars that put empty stats in league where nobody defends anybody and where during regular season players score 70 points while being cheered by opponents.

I think Kerr is a great human being, but I agree his coaching is "limited"...I think he's more like Phil Jackson - more psychologist and ego manager than tactician.

No wonder Franz was taking logo threes.
Well... hope GER wins it all. They have the bigs and physicalityto match against Serbia.

Maybe because USA has no funcional bigs?
Who they could have called that would make difference? Jarret Allen and Ayton? That's pretty much it. Adebayo would have same size issues .
It was Canada's problem against Serbia as well, they had to play Olynyk and Powell despite fact one is usless and other is mediocre, but that's all they got as any hope to contain Milutinov. Made no difference. MIlutinov 10 rebounds. Canada's team 22 rebounds

Those guys are SF/PF size in FIBA. They will get crushed by the likes if Milutiniv/Theis/Vuc etc.
JJJ i think paired with a big PF like Paolo woyld have been fine instead of a 6'6 PF in Hart

Paolo is a below average rebounder still. He is actually pretty bad.
No rebounding instincts, poor positioning, poor use of his body, and watches the ball.
Paolo is and will still be a star. I hope it includes him as an above average rebounder at some point. He is still 20? And has plenty of time.

Maybe Davis could play some C, but 2 world cups and USA can't buy center to save it's life.
Turner- couldn't rebound
Plumlee- skilless on offense if he can't dunk
Jackson- poor rebounder, crazy amount of mental & fundamental mistakes that he tries to hide with blockchasing
Time Lord is 6'8 without shoes. He is another player who is more of shotblocker than actually good defender.
And when you lose 4 times in 2 world cups to France ( Gobert), Serbia ( Jokic); Germany ( Thies) & Lithuania ( Velenciunas) it's gets obvious US teams can't defend size.
US gold medal Olympic team had Durant, Lillard, Green and Jrue Holiday and still only beat France in finals by 5 points.

Lol at everone blaming kerr or grant hill for this loss.
Lets be real here, The top american nba players arent even interested to join the world cup. All they care about is the olympics. While other countries have most of their top players playing for them.
And most of these international players have been playing for the national team since their younger years. While team usa sends out team b players, or new players they are developing every world cup.

Maybe in a perfect world....That would never happen with Kerr as coach....His obsession with small ball just threw things out of whack and it just isn't as effective in fiba as it would be in the NBA....Kerr didn't try to fit towards the players strengths he tried to make them fit to HIS system and not everybody was used perfectly....I don't understand why not try Kessler/JJJ? Kessler/Paolo? JJJ/Paolo? I said at the very beginning, you can look it up that i felt like Kerr was playing Paolo at center just because he's big and not really considering his playstyle...You'd think it was the first time Kerr has ever seen Paolo, while he has Big size he doesn't really play like a big traditionally he's moreso a big wing...Having him at center, rim running and short rolling was just limiting and uncomfortable and you could see it....he tried his best to fit in a role not meant for him but i feel he would've been better in a role he was more comfortable with....
There was no reason why Paolo couldn't play the PF other than Kerr just wanting to play small ball....however paolo can't be let all the way off the hook....he does have to improve his rebounding and positioning.....his drop defense could be a lot better but at the same time paolo in drop defense????.....i think it's unfair to expect perfect center play from paolo when he barely played center for us....all i know is when the olympics roll around we need to put some more thought into the roster AND coaching staff

If Dwight was up to it, Orlando should hire him as a big man coach to teach our players how to defend and rebound.

I don't think Kerr is "obsessed" with small lineups. It's just C talent pool from US is rather very thin.
Best 10 Cs in nba:
Jokic- Serbia
Towns-Dominican Rep
Embiid- Cameroon
Gobert- France
Sabonis- Lithuania
Poeltl - Austria
Vuc- Montenegro
Segun- Turkey
Capella - Swiss
US Cs who are even in conversation for "good" Cs are Ayton, Turner, Allen and Adebayo.
Banchero shouldn't play Cs. Period. Just because he can put some numbers against D level competition doesn't mean he can do that against well organized teams. 40 min means your mistakes & mental errors should be minimal. There is no time to learn on fly, nor there is enough empty possessions to throw away to get repetition from.
