Oakland has come back immediately in the top of the seventh to tie it up 2-2.

For some reason Nathan Eovaldi only went 2 and one third innings tonight. Not sure if he got hurt. He did give up 5 baserunners but no runs in the stretch. It would seem like a way too quick pull for me.

He struggled in his start earlier this week back from injury, but it would still be a big loss for them if he is indeed hurt,

And then the As did As things. Three walks in a row, followed by a wild pitch to give Texas back the lead.

Eovaldi was pulled for a LHP (Perez) in a big spot against a LHB, a decision that may have won them the game. Rangers are effectively treating these games as playoff games (which we should also be doing).

And the As are horrific, but at least they made them use their good RPs.

having one of them ahead is better ofc in the grand scheme of things, facing Twins should be easier than the Rays/Orioles

Solid lineup. Only change I'd make is the way Schneider been hitting I'd put him 3rd ahead of vlad.

The ideal would be one of the two winning 5 or 6 of the 7 games between the two.

Would create a gap between us and the eliminated team.
And then a gap between #5 and #6 seed.

Of course these models use purely numbers and don't use the eye test in any way.

Now up to 76% and 81%m respectively, entering today's games.
(again purely models and not definitive)

Hicks is not going to be a Jay next year. I’d use him as much as humanly possible for this next month.

And he threw less than 20 pitches combined in the 2 games. Not like he’s being overused at all

I would make an effort to sign Hicks if possible in the off-season. I know that is probably slim, since other teams will be looking to target him for their bullpen and the Jays would prefer to use that money elsewhere. However, the guy has pitched really well the past 5 weeks, after his shaky first appearance against Baltimore after being acquired. He is making 1.8 million this year, so not sure what the bidding will be like in the off-season. He would be a great late inning high leverage guy along with Swanson, to alleviate the pressure on Romano in the next few seasons.

He also has closer potential.

Ragans is the first good pitcher this team has faced in weeks. No hitter coming, I'd assume.

Why does it seen like guerreros **** isn't carrying anymore. Did he not barrel that one up? Perez throws his bat at the ball and it hits off the wall and this guerrero swing looked pretty solid and it's just a lazy fly ball.

He missed that one, yeah. Only came off the bat at 87 MPH. Good AB otherwise though.

Kirk GIDP is most frustrating … you don’t even have a chance on anything infield to save either runner

Especially frustrating there because our only real chance to score today is getting Ragans out of the game. Need to be taking pitches to do that.

Well at least with Kirk hitting into a DP we are leaving no one on base.....

Just went to check the GIDP standings and we are #3 in the majors at 120... MLB average is 102.

While I was there I looked at a few other offensive stats:

OPS+ = #7
Runs = #16
Left on Base = #1
