Too much for me, but I am happy for him. Also a message for players that defensive and hustle matters.I was thinking he is like a 8mil guy but I guess inflation had been really bad the last couple years.

I mean we're paying a guy 41 mill who's pretty unplayable. Def not as bad as Vando but pretty bad.

I can't say how playable or not he is going forward ( I do believe he will play major mins in playoffs). He never avg less than 30 mins per game in the playoffs

Good post, and I agree with all your points.

Vando is still only 24, so maybe the Lakers are betting his shooting or hands will improve so he isn’t so much of a liability on offense, because I loved his defense.

Vando 4/48 is a steal if he consistently plays 20+ minutes in a league where your stars will be making 50-60 million/yr over that same period. Should slot in around ~8% of the cap.

Yes, Vanderbilt was worth MUCH more than just a throw-in in the Gobert trade, and the Lakers undoubtedly thought so giving him 4 guaranteed years, which certainly had to have Lebron's blessing.
If I could swap Gobert/Vanderbilt straight up with their current contracts right now I would do it.
12 mil/year is also perfectly in the sweet spot for salary filler if you are trying to upgrade your 4-7 rotation spots around your star.

He's not a great offensive player, but if he just cuts down on the sloppy turnovers he's not going to kill you on that end by clogging the lane and he can run dribble handoffs, set screens, and is a pretty decent pocket passer.
You know who else played his way off the floor in the playoffs? DeAngelo Russell.
The Lakers desperately needed shooting and still had to sit Russell because he was so terrible.
Vanderbilt wasn't needed as much against the Nuggets as they trailed for most of the series, but he was a key part of dismantling Memphis's offensive attack.

The problem with Vando is that he has hands of stone which leads to sloppy turnovers, bad passes, drunk dribbling, inability to be a creative finisher at rim and lack of shooting. 48/4 is pure effort, hard work and hustle, I have a lot of respect for Vando. But there is not much potential there.

I'd put Vit Krejci to a long list of guys who had/has potential to be a role player in MIN uniform. This list is long:

- Chase Buduniger aka red hair Dunker
- Jake Layman aka golden Finger
- Jarrett Culver aka little Hitch
- Jaylen Nowell aka the best mid range shooter in 2021-22 season
- Jordan McLaughlin aka elite AST:TO ration in 2021-22 season
- Leandro Bolmaro aka argentinian Hope
- Matteo Spagnolo aka Spaniard
- Vit Krejci ???

Krejci shooting release looks good, but his footwork is weird and has tendency to fadeaway when shooting. As I said many times with Culver/Bolmaro/Nowell he needs "just" refine his footwork and put a lot of work. Sounds easy but it is not.

Looks like a sparring partner for Ant and no real chance of making the team. Still hoping good news with Payne.

Glad to see that Minnesota has signed a player who has more career turnovers (112) than made field goals (108).

Snark aside, this is definitely an Iowa Wolves signing.

The Nix signing brings the training camp roster to 19 (14 regular contracts, 2 two-way players, and 3 training camp deals), so the Wolves can still add 2 more guys to get to the 21 player limit (they still have 1 regular spot and 1 two-way available).

It looks like we get a (very) poor version of Scoot Henderson (without defense and jumpshot). I wonder whether he can follow the same Naz Reid path: shed weight, improve athleticism, improve defense and jumpshot

The limited likelihood of a Payne signing would likely signal the team wants a "true PG" upgrade over McLaughlin and they see Milton in more of a combo/off-guard role.

96 min per game : Ant 30, Conley 24, Milton 20, Payne 20. It will be nice to have some depth for injuries, new signing doesn't pan out (ex Forbes), or a mid season trade for KD :D

I'd guess Payne would be the 10th rotation player getting around 15 min a game. He'd also likely start 20-30 games when Conley is out and get 30+ minutes on those nights.
