It was sort of bad luck there - but if there was an ideal situation to bunt it was right there. Get the lead runner to 3rd, and avoid a chance of a DP.... on second thought with Kirk running who knows.

I don't know if Kirk is horrific at bunting, but if his skills at it are average it would have seemed right to do it.
