If they trade for Jrue this would change, but presumably the same issues that led to being unable to make a trade for Dame would also be present with Jrue. But Miami as they stand right now, I don't think its a certainty that they make the playoffs.

Oh well, gonna be super exciting and screw Miami. At least we have that.

I think everyone would have preferred to keep Jrue over Midds, simply based on the injury factor. That said, Jroy and all of the NBA media predicted we didn’t have enough to get this done. In the end, we did.

I’m not one of those people, Khris is just a better player even on a bum knee

Incredible. Definitely in shock here. What a day for Wisconsin sports! I love Dame’s fit with not only Giannis, but also with AJJ starting. Perfect compliment and gives us some of the intangibles that Jrue gave us on D while not needing him to shoot. Damn this team is going to be fun!

Very curious who takes that shooting guard starting spot. Think they will probably prefer to keep Pat off the bench. Can Marjon step up? Does AJJ start if he can get used to NBA speed and staying in front of NBA players? Beasley? Some other trade or signing that hasn’t happened yet?

MVP2110 wrote:This trade is a massive risk and basically will boil down to if Dame can stay healthy or not. The Bucks just went from a great defense and mid offense to an elite offense & a mid defense most likely. One thing is for sure though, my excitement level for the season shot up 1000%

I think Horst did a good job on the value he gave up here, keeping MarJon, AJJ, & the Portland Pick are all good work by him. That said it feels like in 3-4 years when we are judging this trade it'll either look amazing or awful with little in between

IMO, if you like the trade today, there's no changing your mind 3-4 years down the road if it doesn't work out how you want it to.

First: Thank you, Jrue! Love you, man. What a great Buck and an even better person.

Second: Welcome Dame! This has been my basketball dream for years now.

Third: I'm loving the "Horst is Gandalf" energy. Definitely made it happen and got it done.

Fourth: The fact that the two teams most disappointed are Miami and Toronto is quite simply a thing of beauty.

Fifth: We have opened a roster spot?!

Sixth: LET'S **** GO!

Seventh: Fotis still can't watch regular season games. No take backs.

It’s just a role. Don’t think AJJ ever plays more than 10-20 minutes a game. Just an interesting fit with Dame. Clearly has the athletic profile to gel well with Dame and even more so the complimentary side on offense lets Dame do his thing with or without the ball

Uh no, I would guess Jrue has a lot more value at the moment around the league based solely on the injury situation with Middleton.

If Middleton comes back healthy and plays at 90% the old Middleton, we're golden. The past two years would say that might be problematic.

Sure, there's a bit more injury risk with KM. But we basically know Jrue becomes like 50% of himself come playoffs already. Tough to say we can expect anything more out of Jrue in the playoffs at this point. With Khris, if healthy he's much more, if injured/slowed well then he's a shell of himself like Jrue is by default in playoffs.

I certainly get that its a debate and an argument either way. But I know which side I'd be on. To me what actually makes it closest isn't the actual KM/JH comparison, it's their fit with Dame. Jrue is basically the perfect offset of skills to cover what Dame is weak at, and vice versa. That's what would make this a close debate to me, but I still choose to keep KM after 3 years of Jrue forgetting how to shoot in the playoffs.

So was the MJS caught off guard with the ‘Holiday wants to extend’ profile, or was that spoonfed PR to get Jrue on the record about not retiring before the deal closed?

I guess it could be both.
