Back to using one Big.

1. Does it make a lot of sense to bring both Horford and Rob off the bench? No, and I think Al might be irritated if
he's suddenly transformed into the 8th man.

2. Do you need both Rob and Al, now that you are back to a one Big lineup? Not, for this season at least.

3. You need to save the TPE to find a veteran backup point.

4. They don't have to include Walsh in the trade.

4.. Using Horford in the trade, the roster breaks down to:

STARTERS
Holiday - White - Brown - Tatum - Porzingis

BENCH
Rob - (TPE Backup Point) - Hauser - Svi - Walsh - Brissete - Banton - Stevens - Queta

One of the main reasons we beat Sixers and Bucks in recent past is cos of Horford’s defense on Embiid and Giannis. Who guards them now? Jaylen? Porzingis will be a ragdoll against Embiid. He’s better as an offball defender and rim protector.

One main reason why we added Porzingis on top of Rob and Al is cos they’d all be insurance for each other if one goes down (not unlikely). If Al is traded and Rob is out for an extended period, we’re ****.

Those are good points, but the Title winning paradigm likely has been changed with Lillard to Milwaukee,
so the Celtics may be forced to change their approach to keep ahead.

And truthfully, how much can you count on Horford this season? He's likely not going to be able to perform as well
as in the past and we saw him wear down in the playoffs.

But, I understand your qualms.

Though, I would say, how does Philly, Milwaukee, Denver, LA, GS... contend with this
Celtics starting lineup?

It's the best in the NBA and should win them a Title, though as you pointed out, Big Man depth would be a concern.

Why wouldn't Portland just take Herro for themselves?

I don't think Portland and Miami will be doing business with each other anytime soon but if they did, Boston would get cut out of this deal so fast.

It just feels like plugging one hole and creating another.

Jrue is not a spring chicken himself. He’ll turn 34 right around the Finals.

Just gotta trust Joe (Charles Lee really) to come up with defensive schemes that will allow us to play Brogdon more or late when needed. Bucks have to defend us too and they still have no answer for Tatum.

Cant they find away to make it part of the trade without being part of it? Small trades that go around the rules to equal the things needed for one big trade? I could be wrong, but haven’t teams done that before?

Never been done using a TPE. Can use the TPE to absorb a player but can’t aggregate said player right away or in the same deal.

No, i was thinking take the TPE player and trade him for someone else then use that player as an aggregate player.

I had that idea but i let it go because i think it needs 4 teams.

He’s not! I used to love the idea of adding him, I’m not with one of our bigs (korny doesn’t count lol) nor Walsh so it’s not good from my prospective. I would love him off our bench but not enough to match $34m!

One of many edits: I’m fired; can’t post right if i tried harder. It’s so simple too!! :banghead:

I really like Caruso, he should be cheaper to get too.

Same issue. Can’t package a player you just received in a trade as part of a deal. There’s a waiting period.

My only hesitation with making any trade is giving up on that GS draft pick.. Something tells me that might be the highest draft pick we get in years.. GS Might be very good next year or may crumble thanks to their age and injury potential.

Caruso, Mitchell, Grimes, even Dort (but he’s a zero on offense and is too expensive).

Austin Rivers, come on down… jk!

Your can’t trade the tpe player in a 1 to 1 scenario? Yes we would then trade that other player but that still would have been 1 to 1.

Get player from tpe, then trade that player for another player. Then use the second player in the larger trade. I know you can’t use the tpe player with other players but i thought you could trade him alone for someone else?

Because they already established they didn't want him? So they trade him for Brogdon, PP and a pick, I guess. I guess we have to add a pick in this scenario.

It's all about who values who...Phoenix didn't value Ayton but Portland does.

I want that pick to stay! GSW could be really good in the West if things break right or really bad in a dogfight(10th or so). The West is stacked!

People think we’d fall apart if Rob AND Porzingis go down, but i think we’d still be much better than gsw if only curry goes down.

Same thing. You’d have to wait 60 days to aggregate the new player. You can make 1-to-1 trades 10 times but you’d still have to wait 60 days to aggregate that 10th guy.

There it is, it wasn’t clicking for me, I’m slow! Can’t trade a player you just received for 60 days unless he’s alone. Thanks!!

That deal is real bad for Portland. The FRP is compensation for the Robinson contract, which means they effectively downgraded from Holiday to Brogdon for no compensation.
