If you don’t like it, just retire. They won’t be starving or without shelter.

I didn't take it (Lauren's post specifically) that way, but I see your point and would agree if that's the intent. I really just took it as "just because we make a ton of money doesn't mean we don't have personal lives that this impacts // athletes are people, too." Which, I mean, fine. Especially coming from their family.

But I understand your point better now.

What’s stopping him from pulling a Harden and just totally sabotaging the Celtics?

I think Jrue is the one who is most hurt by the reality that Dame is just better than him. Like, he’s still very good, but we traded him for a better player. No one is in denial that Lillard is superior. It’s sad but… let’s get the season started already.

I mean that is a viable option. Leave the family living where they are at. Jrue plays out the season. Retires. Then they get $36M from this season without anyone being uprooted. Just a real long business trip for Jrue, which he can shorten by upping his playoff usage again for an early exit.

Best of all, Celtics get hosed by him retiring and the salary slot evaporating.

I’d prefer if he actively sabotaged them but I will accept that.

Upping his playoff usage is active sabotage. We saw it for three years.

No one’s emotions are going to be getting in the way once the games start. The first time Dame hits a half court three, we’ll all just look at each other and understand. 40+ points in his first game as a Buck (October 26th against Philly at the Fiserv?)

Sorry Jrue. It’s a business.

We moved around a few times when I was a kid and having millions would've made the logistics of the process a lot easier but what sucked about moving wasn't the logistics of the process. What sucked about it is uprooting your life and that's the sentiment that I think she was trying to get across.

Celtics fans now: Replacing Marcus Smart with Jrue Holiday is a massive upgrade that will get us over the championship hump.

This is why I never take Celtics fans seriously.

I'll leave this here for you:

A lot of receipts in that thread...lol.

I think there was another Jrue vs Smart thread on the GB, a more recent one I remember reading this past season. Or maybe it was that one and it had been bumped.

I just remember one regular Celtics fan on GB board said something kind of recently (During this past season) that no one outside of Milwaukee Homers would pick Jrue Holiday over Marcus Smart. That would be a real gem to dig up right about now....lol.

Celtics fans do this with everyone though. If a guy plays for the Celtics he's awesome, if he leaves or gets traded he then becomes overrated trash. Overrated trash magically becomes awesome once they become a Celtic.

I wish I would have asked Celtics fans 6 months ago what they though of KP. I doubt they would have said he is the missing piece to their championship puzzle....lol.

Jrue is comfortably one of the most likeable Bucks because the dude is just a really really good human. It's weird to say, but part of me has a sense of, idk, pride that they were crushed by the move. I don't think it's common for a lot of athletes, particularly the very good ones with an array of options, to look at Milwaukee and really dig in and embed themselves within the city and community, and truly make it their home.

The national media knows that the Celtics gave up 2 key players for Holiday, right?

The way they make it sound, you'd think they just added Jrue in free agency.

So the Bucks now have two 75th anniversary players, the Celtics gave up 2 key pieces for Holiday and basically traded away every player sans 70 year old Horford that made them a tough match-up for the Bucks. And that the makes the Celtics now the favorites in the east?

The interesting about this is that Jrue is probably the most heartbreaking trade since Ray for a lot of fans. I see a lot of posts saying how devastated they are since Jrue was their favorite player. Like basically the entire suns roster sans booker has changed in 25 months, 2/3rds of our roster is gone. This is the first time anyone viewed a player more than a commodity that I can remember.

It kind of reminds when Giannis went down you got a lot of "prayers up" "im sick to my stomach" comments in the hawks gamd. Saric goes down a few games later and no one gave a **** lol. It's like we get too personally attached to stars and don't care about other players as much.

Kinda surprised Horst didn't at least give Jrue a heads up. Also wonder if Jrue was kind of oblivious to the Beal talk months earlier?

It’s the point of the season where the cubs are going to win the World Series.

We will see this crap nonstop until the games start.

I wonder if we're able to do this trade if Holiday doesn't have a heightened profile because Middleton missed so much time. Computer what is "cousin of tank"

Also kind of funny of when we talk about the "Player Empowerment Era" we are basically talking about the "Star Empowerment Era" like Jevon Carter isn't getting load management treatment.

I think horst was playing the mystery game and keeping it as tight lipped as possible. . Maybe didn't also want to risk a locker room issue if it didn't go through.

It's tough Jrue saying he wants to be a buck for life and he's mentally there and gets traded right after making that declaration.

Safe to say that Jrue & Lauren have circled every date vs. Dame Bucks. And its personal.
