He's a playmaker:

Really good lob passer:

This video breaks down some of the nuances to Banton's game which indicate he has a promising future in the league:

White could be a good role model for this kid, in terms of build/skllls/game/defense/career path

Yeah. And D-White is such a cerebral player and a good dude, that I bet he can pass on some of the stuff that Ben Sullivan taught him with regards to improving his shooting.

I think the potential is there for Banton to be a decent shooter. The bottom video I posted above talks about how his form is solid. And in some of the vids I have seen he smoothly knocks down multiple 3's in game action off the dribble - and he's still pretty young. It might just be some small tweaks he could make and/or just make sure his mechanics are consistent on every shot.

shooting is one skill that DWhite has improved dramatically and could possibly be a good role model about.
That said, Derrick is by all indications a QUIET dude, so I don't know that he'd be a really vocal veteran mentor. Might be more of the quiet 'do what Derrick does' thing. BUT -- the Celtics need Derrick to become more of a vocal leader in the lead PG role, and this could be associated/training wheels work in that direction.

Of the players between 7-15 Banton may be the least talked about YET may end up rising above them all.

Hardest group of 7-15 to predict maybe ever and yet it's a good problem IMHO.

It would surprise me, but it wouldn’t completely floor me if that makes sense. There’s a world where he rises because he’s the best of what ends up being terrible options, but these guys all seem to competitive to not have at least a few of them be plus additions to the bench. They aren’t hope and pray guys either. While they may not be super established you can see a path for any of them to be playoff contributors even.

I think Banton and Brissett are the cream of that crop. Hauser will likely get more PT though.

According to a few writers, Banton has been killing it in camp, the best of the fringe rotation guys so far.

Really want to see the 4-out huge lineup with Banton, Hauser, Tatum, Al, KP.

All 6’8” or bigger with four elite shooters and one huge ball handler.

One game ago I said cut him for Blake, now I say start stitching #45 into the retired jersey banner:)

Give him a couple of years developing his game and body and he could really be something.

Or he’ll get cut for Blake, what do I know? ;)

- Hacker
- Never seen a shot he didn't want to take
- Too limited of a playmaker despite seemingly having the ability to do so
- Tall, but doesn't seem to do a lot out there with it, such as be an above rebounder for his position
- Poor shooter
- Might develop or might fade into the usual bench obsolescence
- Not counting on him

Hacker? Is he the guy who stole all that 23&ME data? Cut him.

I thought he played well last night, the drives were obviously good but he was all over the place in a good way. Love the effort.
