This Team is Deep. Keep the Starters at 30 mins or less.

Might want to extend to a 10-Man Lineup?

If the bench makes shots then the starters wouldn't have to play a lot.

But Horford was the only bright spot off the bench.

If PP and Sam made shots, Joe would have sat the starters more.

We'll have to wait after 20 games to see if the bench needs an upgrade.

Maybe this is just one of those nights for Sam and PP.

Open shots will fall for Hauser and Pritchard. What they need to do is get open more and for Pritchard stop trying to dominate the ball.

Positive takeaway: We lose this game with last year's personnel. There is no doubt. We needed a team that could still find way to win when they don't shoot well from the 3pt line. We were a -18 from the arc and STILL won this one. We were -10 on the off boards. STILL won.
You could see the difference in Tatum's mindset for this season. Be bigger than your opponent and punish them in the post. His post passing is going to change this team. 34/11 and when this team figures a few things out, it's over. Porzingis is everything I thought he would be when we first traded for him. Such an easy complement to what JT does on the floor. His defense was exceptional and his shotmaking timely.
Jaylen with an off night tonight. Not so much bad passing but extremely indecisive with the ball tonight. Still maybe trying to figure out where he fits in the halfcourt offense but I thought he was out of his element trying to facilitate offense. Held onto the ball a few beats too long a few times and missed advantages we had. Jaylen is so much better when he just makes a decision quickly and attacks. He'll be better next game. As will the bench. First game done. 81 more to go!
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

33-35 MPG is fine for today’s nba, except for Porzingis lol, I want to be cautious with him.

Depth is more important during the doldrums of mid season.

We had the whole Starting Lineup play 32-38 mins. That ain't gonna work for 82 Games.
Keep all these Guys fresh, and put it on Cruise Control.

Other than the refs losing control of the game for a bit, this really was a good, hard fought game. High intensity, playoff atmosphere. Both teams really brought a ton of effort. Can't ask for much more on opening night, when guys are typically rusty and still working out the kinks.

And we got the win!
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Probably just birthday party hangover game for JB. Expecting a bounceback game on Friday against the Heat. Need PP and Hauser to knock down open shots if they're our 7th and 8th guys. Kornet is Kornet. Just be glad we don't play him more. Everyone else was okay to great.

I'd trade brown for someone with less talent but more brain cells.

I think it's going to take a little while for these guys how to figure out to play together.

That doesn't change the fact that I do have major concerns about this team's death because I don't think Hauser and Pritchard are going to cut it.

Damn that’s something I hadn’t considered.

Seriously though the bench is going to have to shoot well to be effective. Otoh NY is probably the deepest team in the league (which isn’t saying much these days) so there’s that part of it as well.

Rough nights for Jaylen and White. One positive is I’ll take a 5 ast 2 to Jaylen any day lol

Seeing JT give the ball up to KP and actually take a step back and let KP cook was relieving to see. Glad to see Tatum have a legit #2 he can rely on

Mavs allowed 43 points from the Spurs in the 1st Q. Their defense has been on point.

Porzingis is the clear second option on this team.

Good point. Svi should have been in this Game, too. Lamar and Brissett, as well.
At least for small stints. Get their feet wet, so to speak.

Joe seems mad with Jaylen for that turnover that led to them scoring like 9 points in 30 seconds.

Not every game will be a close nail biter that goes down to the wire against a team that will probably be a top 5 seed in the east, like this one was.

So during those other games, we'll be able to play the bench more.

Plus, Joe wanted to get a win on opening night to set the tone for our season.

Probably so. -- I just don't want to carry over those bad habits, from last Season.
Especially since we have the personnel, this year.

I don’t know if it was previously stated, but a HUGE thanks to Horford for nailing two very timely three’s when the wheels were completely falling off.

Jaylen Had the 2nd best +/- on the team. The pass turnover was brutal. He secured a big defensive rebound near the end.
