Re: Safe to say, Chet Holgrem > Paolo Banchero
Again it’s perfectly reasonable for two guys to have different games and both be very good prospects in their style of game.
OKC has SGA and Giddey. Guess what they don’t need, another on ball creator. They need a guy that can be a game changer defensively and be an efficient versatile scorer off the ball. Chet checks all those boxes.
ORL doesn’t have elite on ball creators. They were still looking for their franchise cornerstone offensive player. Paolo is a very strong 6’10 guy that has legit point forward potential and the primary offensive focal point potential. Kind of exactly what he showed tonight (30/9/5 plus the game winning left handed drive).
It’s almost like both teams got the best guy they could’ve hoped for in the draft.

Magic didn't want or need a role player. They needed a go to player. Chet as your go to player would be laughingstock of the league. Could he even successfully post up a PG?

Chet probably has Marfan and will be injured half the time. So probably not, no.

I said at the draft that Banchero's ceiling is Michael Beasley and floor is Michael Beasley. I stick with that.

Well, somehow, he’s already surpassed his ceiling if you are to be correct..

And he’s back. Good thing we judged him after that tiny 4 game sample size to start the season, lol. Dude was elite tonight.

Idk who people think is a better player, but I think most would agree Chet at the 5 gives you a higher chance at a title than paolo at the 5 .imagine you had to deal with all the nuggets challenges of making a good fit around jokic, but for a worse player.Chet can just be your guy and the other players don’t matter as long as they’re good enough to win

What about at 3? Who would give you the best chance at 3.Lockdown504090 wrote:Duke4life831 wrote:Again it’s perfectly reasonable for two guys to have different games and both be very good prospects in their style of game.

Beasley constantly was higher than his ceiling but always ended up on the floor when the stuff wore off.

Very, very interesting matchup today for Chet. OKC are facing the Warriors in an in-season tournament game. This is a game where Chet shouldn't have to deal with too much in the way of physical dominance, however he does have to deal with defensive genius Draymond. Curious to see if Chet can dominate a premier small ball team.

We also gotta realize he’s a rookie going against a DPOY caliber vet so we gotta give him some grace.

Only a delusional Knick fan would think Brunson better than Trae.. I would give up jalen n Barrett for Trae and a bag of chips to have something to munch on while we make the conference finals to play Milwaukee

not a fair characterization at this point in his career. it remains to be seen if he can be a go to scorer. he's 5 games into his rookie season and he's averaging 16 ppg on 60/52/80 splits. In fact, his ppg average is the same as Paolo on better efficiency. or are we expecting Chet to be getting an efficient 25 ppg in his first handful of games as a rookie in order to project as a #1?

Why would Paolo play the 5?

Well, Chet has the advantage of getting less attention on him thanks to playing alongside SGA and Giddy. So the efficiency is also a biproduct of not having to carry the load offensively.
I like Chet. I think he will be a great player. I just don't think he will be a go-to guy or a shot creator. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

Not only would I not take Chet over Pablo at this point I would not select Chet second in a redo of the draft.

This is a really good take
