We didn’t want to watch him as a starter anymore. 3rd center is perfectly fine with me.

Bingo.

We didn't want to see him as a starter anymore and we didn't want to watch him anymore as part of a big man rotation that included Theis and Tristan Thompson starting, with Time Lord off the bench - and a double big lineup so 2 of those 3 guys were on the floor at all times.

But as a 9th/10th man, as our 3rd big, with the other 2 bigs being KP and Al...yes, I'll take that. Especially with how he played this past summer at World Cup and how much on court and off court chemistry he has with the Jays (and Al). Plus, we could use another guy (especially a big) with his toughness, grit and physicality.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

I’d rather see what Queta can do. I’ll pass on Theis for now, but if he gets bought out I 100% expect Brad to bring him back

If Theis gets bought and then signs here, it likely wouldn't be till 2nd half of the season.

Hopefully Queta gets a chance to prove himself by then.

Theis proved two years ago that he is a liability on defense when you switch against elite teams. So I doubt we would trade for him.

As a starter or backup center sure. As the 3rd center / the 4th big behind Tatum, zinger, and horford he'd be a luxury. And if he's bought out its a minimum contract, not 8 or 9 mil a year.

No way I’d trade for him. Vet min if he’s bought out, sure..

Id rather see Queta play as well, id rather see him play the limited minutes Kornets been playing. I also know at some point KP and or Al are going to miss time and i dont feel great about their backups. Theis as the 3rd rotation guy, the backups backup, would be great.

Looking for a 3rd unit big man that isn’t a liability on the switch against elite teams is a losing effort. Those guys wouldn’t be available as 3rd unit guys.

If he’s the best we can do for the minimum after a buyout. Then that’s ok I guess. But I’m fine with Kornet as the regular season big.

I would hope brads focus would be on acquiring someone that could potentially crack the playoff rotation.

i can't believe anyone is pining for Daniel Theis. fun guy to root for but a 6-8 C who can't shoot and can't defend top opposing centers is not useful in this day and age.

6'8 center who can shoot and defend top opposing centers is Bam Adebayo. We won't be getting him as our 3rd big.

You don't understand. We don't want the best third big in the league to be the Celtics' third big because he's not a starting level big. Flawless logic.

I don't love Theis but who can they realistically get that's better?

Theis was one of the best "wham" blockers in New England since Daniel Graham.

But once the NBA outlawed that, and when his outside shooting didn't come through, Theis became pretty bad on offense.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

We would have beat Brooklyn tonight if we had Theis.

Just buy the guy out already, Indiana. Y'all don't need him.
