I saw him as overhyped role player/glue guy...not an All-Star and certainly not a PG...now he's putting up pts and shooting 3's too?
Many said Barnes had the highest upside in that draft, I was excited for the Magic to have a chance of drafting him, though scared too, Toronto obviously didn't let that happen, and i am plenty happy with Suggs/Wagner. Tall guys that can defend and pass are cheat codes in the NBA...hence the appeal of Black....
Now I am pretty surprised at as Barnes early season three point volume and success after last years awfulness ...he was pretty good to start his rookie year from 3 too, but this year he has his FT% tracking too....if Barnes is indeed a 39% 3pt shooter on volume, he's going not going to just be an all star, but probably all-nba before too long...It's the argument for drafting things like size, IQ, feel...over shooting.
scorer on a bad team doesn't apply to Barnes..first of all Toronto's not that bad...not great, but they are of the pack team in the East unless they move OG and/or Siakam...maybe better than that if they could upgrade their guards. 61%TS is not inefficient. look to one of the many scoring guards around the league on bad teams...Jalen Green...tbh there's just not many bad teams this year with guys hogging usage.
