Small sample size foe Scottie. Let's see how the season progresses.

Vince ended up averaging as a top 5 scorer for the entire decade. Remarkable when you consider the scrubs he had to play with ...

Yep small sample size but so far he’s having great impact on both ends of the floor just like Kawhi Leonard. Keeping an eye on his BPM throughout the season.
Masai's to do list

Scottie talk at 17:31 mark

There is a crazy amount of positive talk around him this season from a bunch of former players/analysts. And everyone keeps saying the same stuff, his numbers likely wont stay here, but they dont look at all like they are gonna drop off that much. You love to see it.

The Aaron Gordon comp kind of irked me, even though he said they're different, I just think that Scottie is in a totally different stratosphere as a player. The stuff about him being a "Pippen", it's like yeah maybe but I'm not seeing Pippen type stuff from him, I'm seeing alpha dog on a title contender type of stuff. His scoring mindset needs mature and once he consistently finds that balance between scoring and passing he's going to be able to control the flow of entire games.

So apparently a stat line of 15/12/3 on splits of 49/25/65 is > a stat line of 23/10/6 on splits of 51/42/76. There is no justification for Mobley over Barnes today.

Cade literally has a PER of 10.7 right now, while Scottie has a PER of 23.1. Not that PER is everything but I can say with almost 100% certainty that there isn't a single relevant advanced statistic that points to Cade being better than Scottie.

the funniest one from here is Lamelo Ball. These "analysts" like that he can throw no look passes.

A pro scout who has seen Barnes multiple times already this season says his performance and the fire with which he’s playing has been eye-popping.

“What stands out? Everything!” the scout said via text.

“He’s a whole different player. He’s bigger and stronger but hasn’t lost any of his mobility or agility. His shot is much, much smoother and in better balance. And most importantly he’s hungrier. He seems to be on some kind of mission.”

There is no better example than his fourth quarter against the Spurs. Barnes — like the rest of his teammates — was having a sub-par afternoon to that point. The Raptors had trailed by as many as 22 points and started the fourth quarter down 15. Barnes was 3-of-12 from the floor, 2-of-6 from three and was on his way to a pretty 'blah' afternoon.

But he wasn't having that.

"We needed a spark," he said. "I knew I needed to start doing something."

Remember when people said Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero had better futures than Scottie Barnes?

The best part is this is just the beginning of his ascension into being one the best players in the league. If he can continue playing at this level for the season, he puts pressure on the FO's hand to begin building around him as he improves each season. I remember Masai, saying before the start of Barnes rookie year in an interview with Tim Micaleff, that Barnes changes the direction of this franchise. Well it looks like that change has arrived. Get to building Masai!

Cade and Edwards are seriously overrated on this list. The hype machine behind Edwards is serious this season. Yes, he was the face of team USA this summer... the face of a team that didn't even medal in the competition. Scottie is a better player than Edwards.

The signs were there. Too many know-it-alls were critiquing his workout videos and overlooking the fact that he practiced the entire offseason. He also said all the right things, and even admitted his conditioning needed to improve. At the time, I was confused as to what more people wanted to see/hear.

By all accounts he doesn't care for the media so I can see why fossils like Doug Smith won't embrace him, but I just don't get why some Raptors fans won't. He's a good kid, very easy too root for IMO.

The Edwards hype was a little too much over the summer but he’s definitely been balling this season and leading the team to a 4-2 record. He’s putting up 28/7/5 on over 50% shooting with good defense. He also still has another level he can get to as a playmaker.
