Horford similarly shot poorly in his first 7 games (5/22 from 3) but has shot well past 6 games (11/22).

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard! – (Signs Extension: 4yrs/$30M)
Like it or not, Pritchard may be the best ball handler on the Celtics in terms of low Turnover ratio (the only with lower ratios don't really dribble, they just stand around or catch and shoot and Banton hasn't really faced the presses that the starters and normal backups like Pritch routinely see). So, even though he can't get to the rim and finish most times, he's a ball handler that can shoot. Other than Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, no one else handles a ball as well as Pritch. That, and his 3 point shot, are why he's in the rotation.
And although Pritch doesn't rack up a lot of assists, on a per 100 possessions basis, only Derrick White and Jrue Holiday have more assists per 100 possessions. Plus, the little bugger is a real nuisance on defense. Gets right in the face of opponents, and tries to wrap around for a steal, or an in your face poke.

Pritchard has low turnover ratio because he never passes. Kinda like Jaylen Brown who also doesn't turn the ball over very often.
On the rare occasions Pritchard does pass, it's always the safe but pointless passes to safety valves.

you never miss an opportunity do you?
PP is doing fine fitting in with the higher level starters he rotates with.

Payton's game seems liberated when the Jays are not on the court. Just my opinion, but when he gets extended minutes with his bench mates, he is more fun to watch. It's his show then. With the Jays on the court, he often doesn't even get to bring the ball up the court, and when he does have the ball he pretty much immediately gives it to Tatum (primarily) or Jaylen. I get it, the Jays are the stars, and they need the ball. But Payton does have more game. Remember preseason Payton?

It’s such a sad existence isn’t it ? To take pleasure when the players you don’t like on the team aren’t playing well & the throw unwarranted & evidently wrong shots at them when they are playing well.

The funny thing is I don't even know who you are and would not be able to tell you what kind of posts you make. It's not healthy to be obsessed with the internet in that way. Get some help. Or not lmao.

Despite totally disagreeing with him on certain subjects. I actually have no problem with BK.. He believes in what he believes and is pretty consistent with that. So for that I give him credit.

People on here only know you as the guy who has a weird obsession at picking on Brown & Pritchard (especially Brown considering you’re consistently the top poster on Jaylen Brown discussions)
You’re as predictable as any of the worst sport fans. You’ll flood the chat/forum when they aren’t playing well & then turn into a mouse when they are.

He's growing on me, ngl, but his shot is still shaky and he will never be able to play playoff defense. Still he's been good for us so far despite his threes not falling.

Good for PP to feel some real 4th quarter success last night.

He won't have to and Boston will not need PP to even have a BIG role come playoffs. Alternating play-making duties to Jrue/White and/or JT and a small role in the playoffs he fits perfectly. If all PP does is help get us a good playoff position by season's end, he did his job.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard! – (Signs Extension: 4yrs/$30M)
A quarter into the season, PP needs to start shooting better. He's been given the minutes and opportunities to perform as the backup PG, playing in all of the games. He's gotten paid and no longer has to look over his shoulder if someone else is gonna take his place. He's had maybe 4 or 5 good games on offense. 37.5% from the field, 31.6% from 3. Not nearly good enough. Especially considering he's still a bit of a liability as the hunted one on defense.

I think PP has until January.
If he doesn't perform better then it's possible the Cs will trade for another backup PG.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard! – (Signs Extension: 4yrs/$30M)
He had a brutal start to the season but he levelled off a bit in November: 42% from the field and 37.5% from 3. Still not good enough given his defensive shortcomings, but the horrific start really skews things.
I think a big part of the issue is that there aren't enough rotations you can fit him into that play up to his skillset. We've got a ton of ball-handlers already between Jrue/White and the Jays, a lot of the time he's not needed to run the point. And then all those guys are scorers plus KP/Horford/Hauser, so there aren't many lineups where we need him as the microwave scorer off the bench. He's never going to be a plus on the boards or defensively either.
So if your'e not having him handle the ball more than bringing it up the court and/or putting him in situations to score, what's that leave for him to do? If he was shooting +40% from three it's a different story. Or if he had more success breaking down defenses off the dribble to create more for others, which he's hit and miss on. Otherwise it's hard for him to make a positive impact.
I'm struggling to see lineups where he's going to shine when we're fully healthy.
