Regardless of however you feel about either Paolo or Chet, I bet Magic and Thunder fans are just happy neither one of them drafted Jabari Smith. I like Jabari, but he would have been a colossal mistake over either of them in retrospect. I think he will be a good role player for years to come, but he’s no star. Chet is the deadeye shooter he was suppose to be, while also being a defensive stalwart and superior passer.
Good thing both organizations "missed" on Jabari. Like you said good role player but not a star.
I think a lot of the media draft talks talked them into Jabari having the highest floor. Like if he shoots 38% on volume and plays plus defense, which looks like he will, that is going to be good on any team.
Surely Smith had to be 3 on everybody's board in terms of talent or upside. The consensus one thing may have just been these media draft types trying to get intel and maybe the Magic putting out bad info trying to leverage a trade...or just bad reporting. the betting odds on that first pick were crazy.
Frankly all three look like they are going to be really good. Jabari has been really good this year..who knows..if figures out some more offense. Possible all three of these guys are frequent all stars or better.
