This team is still missing an explosive 3 level scoring SG.

After a brutal showing last night against a mediocre team, our starters came up huge tonight against one of the best in the league that was also riding a long winning streak. I thought we had no shot on the 2nd night of a B2B, but this team continues to surprise me with their effort and execution for better or for worse every night lol.

Siakam and Poeltl were great in the first half while Scottie (absolute monster in the 4th especially) and Achiuwa (lol) were great in the second half. Throw in some excellent defence + a clutch three (OG) and excellent playmaking+ a clutch layup (Schroder) as well as a good all-around game from GTJ, and it's probably good for us. Flynn had some brutal moments as did McDaniels, but I at least liked the energy they brought and they didn't really hurt us in their minutes. Very good team win. If only we could somewhat consistently play like this.

A big part of that is our defense though. The whole idea between the type of players we bring in is that we defend the hell out of teams. We have so many examples of stars having horrible games against us despite us being meh for 3 years here
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Didn't even realize we ended their 7 game win streak. Makes this win even more impressive.

More Scottie initiating the offence, please. Barnes shows up in the 4th when it matters most.

This game was actually watchable

I think Matty D was more hyped for OG's last second 3 where we lost by 12 yesterday than Schroder's nutmeg pass on Durant lol

It's still a long shot. but seriously the only chance that this team has a future is if scottie goes nuclear. The FO needs to understand that. So much rides on whether barnes ascends.

Where was he placed in the offense in that 4th? Why are we using him like he's Gradey Dick? Is this all to build Siakam's value? Also Siakam once again disappeared when Barnes was going while Barnes disappeared while Siakam was going.

Apparently the stats say they play well together.

Sometimes I wonder what people are watching.

They both put up 22/8/4ish and you’re complaining still?

They also showed some nice chemistry with Siakam cutting off Barnes penetration that Nurkic barely shut down a couple times

They don't play well together lol. Whenever Siakam was going Barnes was standing on the perimeter. Whenever Barnes was going, Siakam was standing on the perimeter. They maybe play off each other once a game. Are you sure you watch the game lol?

You also said Barnes was being lazy multiple times this season when he's not involved in the offense, while he has been having a great defensive impact all season. How many players impact the game that way while pouting and not caring? Come on.

Also aren't you the one who wanted to trade Siakam for scrubs and Buddy Hield? Make up your mind man. I have been very consistent with all my comments and don't flip back and forth after every stretch.

, Pascal and Barnes have great games... The team wins against a team on a 7 game winning streak on..with the Raptors on a late B2B.

..and all you guys can talk about is trading Pascal? You guys are a mix hilarious and insane.

at the end of the day, i really do have to remind myself as to what barnes was coming into the league a few years ago. most prospects of his ilk get the reigns from day 1 and have had multiple seasons of being the best scorer on any and every team they have ever been a part of through highschool and college, scottie has been the super-utility knife/winning culture guy since transferring to montverde.

we also had a unique situation here in his first year(and second i suppose to a certain extent) where he was put in a similar situation. hes gonna make mistakes and hes gonna have wtf moments, but the fact hes putting up these numbers all while never being featured before is kinda fun to sit back and think about.

i dunno, im here for it and i still think he can be special given how far hes come with his circumstances.

anyways, great win and great job scottie :)

barnes game is all about momentum. you slow him down by adding different ingredients in the mix. just LET HIM COOK and live with the result. even if he falls flat on his face it's growing pain.

ForeverTFC wrote:Also, Scottie with a shot at Darko/Dennis in that post game interview.

Paraphrasing:
Q: What allowed you to do what you did in the 4th?
A: Getting the ball at the top of the key and being able to distribute to my teammates.

There was a CLEAR difference in how Barnes was used with that bench unit in the 4th compared to the 2nd.

Some want Barnes to just take control, but ignore that Darko was coaching Achiuwa to the top of the key making decisions while Barnes is in a shooters spot in tge 2nd Q...and lots of other games.

Today we saw them switch and the offense was much better, we didn't watch Flynn and Achiuwa run pnr after pnr while others watched.

Today, is how it should be from now on. Hopefully Darko sees the obvious.

A win is a win is a win.

I disagree. Maybe if this was a contending team. But we’re not.

If we’re gonna win games with the team in its current state, I wanna see contributions and winning basketball from the guys who will be here 3-4-5 years from now

Great win! Game had everything tonight, scottie dominating and playing luck down D, precious with the hustle and looking like a competent player. When our bench doesn't get destroyed we win more often than not.

Phoenix supposedly has one of the worst benches in the NBA and their bench still outscored ours tonight despite a monster game from Precious and double digit points from Gary.

Tells you all you need to know.
