They are clear upgrades but solve nothing about the deficiencies of the lineup. Fultz solves nothing offensively and Carter is basically a net negative on offense, so what’s the argument?

I'm a Fultz fan and I can admit he might not be right as the long term starter. Why can't you admit that he actually helps this team win games. It's really weird to me you'd go so far.
