He really is, but this is where his antics, mostly begging for an MVP, come to bite him. In normal circumstances, the season Embiid is having would get him praised, commended, applauded and heralded as the MVP. However, after last year, the best play of his life is surrounded by crickets and hardly anyone is interested.

Funny how that goes.

Surrounded by crickets?? He is 1st on the MVP Ladder and is probably the front runner for MVP this season. Thats hardly crickets. He’s certainly the favorite for east player of the month putting up GOAT level numbers this month. If he continues his current play for the rest of the season which he should, with his consistency he should definitely win MVP. Giannis and Jokic just haven’t been as consistent as Embiid this season and he’s won 80% of the games he’s played so far this season.

You have a unique way of making Embiid's missing games and ducking tough matchups a good thing while his team missing him for the uphill battles.

The entire team was sick. He missed some games with that. Not sure what you guys want with the missing match ups stuff.

He is #1 on the MVP ladder, yet nobody other than Philadelphians talks about him. How come?

Focusing on games actually played and won for the team is a good start. Last season Embiid won less games and at a lower winning rate.
Embiid 43W/23L; 76ers 54W/28L; Without Embiid 11W/5L
Jokic 48W/21L; Nuggets 53W/29L; Without Jokic 5W/8L

I've never seen so many excuses for one player.

I forgot, what was the excuse for not playing in Denver last season?

It would be interesting to know what Jokic said exactly. After the game, he admitted that he crossed the line.

You should tell that to the MVP voters last year, I'm sure they missed that.

Didn't you want to watch him play against Jokic? I believe we all did.

I think it's fair for us fans to be disappointed that he was scared to play, and to call him out for ducking the game.

He did earlier in the year. Dominated.

Yes part 2 would have been nice. But it doesn't wipe away the earlier accomplishment and the fact that he is 5-2 against Jokic.

You saying he was scared to play is 100% your opinion. You have no evidence to back that up.

Then, why he didn't play?

That same week he complained about being disrespected, and said he deserved the regular season award, but then refused to play in the most anticipated game of the regular season against the direct competitor for the award? Why?

Sure, though I don't think he'll answer.

In the meantime, the only reasonable explanation is that he was scared to play.

I hope being on a loaded team doesn't hurt Luka's chances.

This crew just beat the IST World Champs.

Uh huh...

https://www.si.com/nba/76ers/news/76ers-how-serious-joel-embiids-setback-after-nuggets-game

https://sixerswire.usatoday.com/2023/03/30/doc-rivers-defends-decision-to-sit-joel-embiid-vs-nuggets-amid-mvp-race/

He was dealing with a calf issue, for over a week, and sat out the 2nd half of the Bulls game. As I'm sure you know calf issues are not something you mess with as it can lead to Achilles issues, which is terrifying.

But yea, lets just go with he ducked Jokic after dropping over 40 points the last time they met. That sounds like a rational narrative for a guy that went 5-2 in their matchups historically. He's ducking him because he'll go 5-3? If he loses the match, what it wouldn't win the MVP? That would be 1-1. Embiid then turned it up for the rest of the season and Jokic sat out a bunch of games including key games against playoff contenders like the Warriors and Suns. Don't hear anyone else complaining about Jokic sitting out those games.

Oh, so it's the injury excuse again.

After that Bulls game, he played 37:48 with 44 usg% @GSW, then 32:16 with 40.5 usg% in b2b @PHO, then ducked Jokic, then after two days 33:08 with 35 usg% vs DAL, then proceeded to play 4 more games in 8 days.
