Doc took the ‘optimists win’ approach. Said that once Dame and Giannis figure it out, everything will fall into place with the other guys. Thinks they can still win a title, and will get it together by the time the playoffs roll around. It all sounded great to me……then I realized he’s auditioning for a Bucks HC opening if it happens. 8-)

Was annoyed they took the Bucks conversation in that direction and not Griff being out of his depth and the defence not being good enough.

I'm not saying they don't have a championship roster but man do they have to go out and prove it in May/June.

Bill wanted to go all negative. But how better to audition for a job than tell a national audience the team is super talented and should easily get it together. Felt like the whole thing was a speech to Wes Edens. And Doc has his Milwaukee roots.

Doc is certainly not who I had in mind. Don't love it, or even like it, but he is not Grief.

Checks the Giannis "former player" prerequisite box, not that they should give two flying **** about that this go-around.

I mean Doc has proven he can let a super talented roster carry him to a title, which is more than I think Grief will ever be capable of.

They just need someone to sort out having a top 15 defense based on funneling everything to Brook and Giannis while fixing the issues with getting back on D and rebounding, and then stay out of the way and let the offense do its thing as the players already sorted out most of the offensive issues and Dame/Giannis WILL figure out the rest.

Can't believe we're a quarter into the season and in a position where friggin Doc Rivers would be a noticeable coaching upgrade and one that I'd be mildly excited about lol.

Joe Vardon May 17:

In the hours after Rivers’ firing was announced I spoke with three NBA front-office executives — two in the Western Conference and one in the Eastern Conference — who expressed somewhere between skepticism and outright doubt that Rivers would get another job for the upcoming season. But then one pointed to the unpredictability of the situation in Phoenix, where new owner Mat Ishbia has traded for Kevin Durant and fired Williams, and another mentioned Rivers as a potential sleeper candidate in Milwaukee, and around we go again.

I would be giddy if we got Doc not gonna lie, and would have been sick to my stomach at the same news 6 months ago.

Think he has enough credibility among players that if he tells them to run back on defense or stop being idiots that they’ll listen, Giannis and Dame included.

Literally anything he tries to do on defense will be an improvement by default. Despite the numbers, still believe the offense is vastly underperforming but again, trying almost anything different will be an improvement.

I guess we would have the fun of trying to determine who Doc will through under the bus in his annual second round exit? My money is on BroLo.

No kidding lol. Doc had a Harden-Maxey back court last year and the Sixers defense wasn’t a bottom feeder.

Maybe this was the Edens Haslem spin zone all along. Hire a coach so bad that we would be more than willing to look past all of Doc’s postseason flameouts.

It would be something special to fire a coach who won a title but subsequently flamed out in the playoffs and bring in someone who won a title and subsequently flamed out in the playoffs. And that one title was 16 years ago.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

WHY tho.
I demand our price go up by one (1) 2nd Round Pick every time a rival GM permits the name Chris Livingston to drop from his/her lips.
You now stand at: Pat + X = PJ + (1) 2nd Rd Pick, where X could = Beauchamp for salary matching purposes. Not in favor of throwing away Beauchamp either and all they need is 350k more going out. We should not be tradin the youts for teh olds and have every reason to hang onto Livingston

Unless, the Cloppers give up Mann or provide a 1st rd pick with Tucker I do not think he would be a good addition. I'd rather bring back Torrey Craig for Robin and a protected 2nd. If possible I'd also call to see I'd Chicago gives up on Williams like Washington gave up on Rui.

yeah, i think we are headed for the Craig route more so than the Caruso route. Theoretically, if the coaching stuff gets ironed out, that should be enough. our defense will look significantly better when it's Dame/Defensive 2/Khris/Giannis/Brook all playing playoff minutes, and then it's Jae coming in for Giannis right away instead of Bobby.

Things i want to see between now and the trade deadline:

1. Can either Marjon or Andre step up and be a plus on D and take that starting 2 spot? I doubt it, but we should really be giving them every chance to succeed while we have wiggle room. If one of them can stick, it takes a lot of pressure off of our need for a trade and gives us a little leverage. As it stands, teams know what we need and they know we need it badly.

2. Can AJ Green be as good or better than Beasley? Maybe this is a stupid question, but Beasley does very little else besides catch and shoot three pointers. That's exactly what AJ does best. I think there might be potential here for Green to become the next Forbes and we can ship Beas off to the Knicks in an offense for defense swap.

Craig would be a good get that shouldn’t cost arm & a leg

Bucks have talent to contend but I can’t delude myself into thinking they got a chance with such a terrible defense that gets pushed by the league’s worst teams night after night. At least as long as Griffin is here, this is a lame duck pretender team

Stands to reason Doc would target the Bucks if he’s interested in taking a job mid-season.

Rivers not getting back on the horse immediately after getting fired in the wake of Harden and Embiid’s latest choke job made sense over the summer. Seeing how Morey and Harden handled things since certainly adds to the perspective there.

Dame Time must seem fantastic to Doc after that experience too.

As opposed to Griff talking about the team learning and growing after getting bounced in the 1st as his top 4 guys turn 30, 33, 34, and 36 years old heading into next season?

I'm not saying Doc isn't an upgrade over Griff. It's just sad that he is.
