Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
I still think the Bulls end up trading Caruso. They've won a few games lately but if they trade Lavine and/or DDR I don't see how they hang on to Caruso.
Bucks get: Alex Caruso, Quentin Grimes, and Isaiah Hartenstein
Knicks get: Bobby Portis and Malik Beasley
Bulls get: PC, Knicks 2024 1st, Knicks 2025 2nd
The leaves the Bucks with:
Lillard/Payne
Caruso/Grimes/Green
Midds/MarJon/AJJ
Giannis/Crowder
Brook/Hartenstein

I really wanted to trade Bobby this off-season to the Knicks for a package that would include one of their guards and hartenstein before people realized that Hartenstein is actually better than Bobby, but I think at this point, more people probably realize it.
Bobby still has a unique skill package - isolation scoring, rebounding, and 3p shooting - that may entice a team, but I don’t think he has nearly the same value he had just 6 months ago.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Who are gonna be the serviceable buy out candidates we look at?
The fat man is reporting Bucks and Celtics aren’t expected to make any trades and will look to the buyout market for depth. Just trying to get an idea of possible targets ppl like around here?

Probably smart to never expect a buy-out dude to be the answer, but these seem like obvious candidates:
Joe Harris
Alec Burks
Reggie Bullock
Patty Mills
Mike Muscala
Danilo Gallinari
Doug McDermott
Thad Young
Otto Porter

I believe Joe Harris and Doug McDermott make too much for the Bucks to be able to sign then on buyout (or any team above the 1st apron)
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Something like Brook for Wiggins?
Idk.
Nothing matters much until the coach is gone.

Do we believe that Otto Porter has like, 30-40 more combined RS/PS games left in his body before the knees/feet fail? If so, I think he's clearly the buyout guy with the most upside to a contender.

Called for it at buyout season last year and during FA. Thought he would be a great Wes replacement type of player.AussieBuck wrote:Over here living in a world where Dante Exum has never been a Buck.

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.

I wouldn't even think about trading Brook.
That being said I think Wiggins is definitely a reasonable target for the Bucks. If the Warriors get desperate they may move him just to try and shake things up.
Wiggins and Saric for Portis, PC, and MarJon works.

Wiggins for Khris in a heartbeat, although I couldn't really get it to work last I tried.

Hard pass on Wiggins at this point. Dude is absolutely phoning it in right now and you have to question whether he even loves basketball anymore (or if he ever did). He's legitimately been one of the worst starters/regular rotation players in basketball.

Wiggins has been an abomination this season. I’m not opposed to Khris trades but I’m not trading a franchise legend for a loser who got up for one playoff run but has been a colossal disappointment otherwise and is putting together a garbage season thus far.

Hard pass on Wiggins. Complete contract year guy.
That said, Cronus floating a Memphis trade with Khris/Marjon/2nd for Smart/Clarke. I’d do that one fast. Don’t think Memphis does it.

Wiggins and Saric for Portis, PC, and MarJon works.
Only reason I used Lopez was because it was quick and easy, but yeah, I'd much rather trade Bobby if that deal works.
The hope would of course be that Wiggins is re-energized and becomes 2022 Wiggins which would be an absolute perfect fit on this team.
Doesn't sound like a very popular idea though.

Is it really though? This isn’t the Pistons, this is a championship roster chock full of veterans.
It's not a championship roster and reforming bad habits of superstars while integrating new vets and seasoning youngsters as you work the entirely new makeup of the 2023-2024 roster into shape isn't ever gonna look pretty. It's the unrealistic expectations that are at fault here: every team has to earn it every year and that's not any different b/c grif is coach and it was pretty stupid to dump pj b/c his contribution was so on-point for the bucks roster and purposes - had to get that in!
Have the Bucks won a championship this year? No?
Do the Bucks have the same roster that won a title in 2021? No?
Has the current roster proven it can win or that it has won a championship in this the Year of Our Lord 2023?? No?
Literally then, the roster the Bucks are putting on the court this year is not a championship roster. Yet. Literally. Prove it otherwise by winning the whole schmear this year.

I think Washington will probably be able to get something they want out of a contender, but if that's not the case Delon Wright is among the potential buyout candidates that I'd most prefer

Really? I think Memphis takes that and run. Smart has only played 11 games and has been bad. and Clarke probably isn’t going to play this year after tearing his Achilles in march.

Lol this is such a trash take. By that logic, no team can EVER have a championship roster until they've won it and before the next season starts assuming they don't have an identical roster.
It's a common term used, and yes, the Bucks have a championship roster. But are not executing correctly or efficiently at all.

You obviously know this isn't what people mean. Nobody has a championship roster then cuz semantics, and even the bolded is a stretch (5 of the Top-7 core players are still here). This is pretty much the most experienced championship and playoff roster in the league outside of Golden State, and that's precisely why a lot of people are pretty sick of the "patience" stuff. No coach should be having this much trouble getting this group of players "on the same page".

JayMKE wrote:This team is old as **** and already has a championship, I'm not buying an even older PJ Tucker is the missing ingredient in the locker room or that he's going to somehow fix Griffin's dumbass system. It would be fun if he got bought out but I'm not sure the Bucks would be his first choice then, its more hoping he just freaks out on Griffin and leads some kind of rebellion as player-coach. This isn't why you trade for a guy, Horst just needs to nad up and fire Griffin while this season can still be salvaged.
No coaching change or personnel move at this stage is gonna instantly somehow turn the current state of things into some magically silky-smooth brilliant level-of on-the-court play. PJ Tucker's mental toughness and on-point attitude would do wonders on the court for the play and the role of the rest of the roster. Tucker wouldn't 'go after' Grif and wouldn't need to. But he'd be huge for shaking up the guys who need to get over it and play team ball for real.
