Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
I was hoping he would get picked before us so masai wouldn't do something stupid and then when we picked him my heart sank. I looked at some highlights and he just looked like another really good spot up shooter who u could just plug in to the Kansas system and not really anything else.
Right now it's looking like he could be T Ross at best

No chance this guy develops into a star.
Hopefully he can become a useful role player.
Masai burning draft capital the past few years.
Koloko
Dick
2014 first shipped to SA
Outside of Barnes, it’s lookin grim on all fronts.

And it all comes down to the Poletl trade. That trade cost not only cost a future pick, but likely a better pick in last year's draft. Imagine if Dick just isn't an NBA player.
He's not even a G League player ATM... Let's hope he snaps out of it but not every pick will work out I didn't think he would be as bad as he is ATM.. It's early

He did not play the last several minutes of the 4th quarter which was a curious decision by the coach. Actually the team did not play well and I don't think there is anyone on the 905 that could make any meaningful contribution to the Raptors in the event of an injury.
I mean I'm not saying he's great, but there was a guy who had 17 on 7 of 9 shooting with 5 offensive rebounds. He came off the bench and Grady Dick started. Obviously Grady needs minutes in the gleauge. If Grady made a solid amount of shots in this game, the team would've been pretty competitive or had a win and peoples perception of how they played would likely have been altered.
Can't remember his name but the tiny PG I think had a tonne of assists, looks pretty good out there. Marquis Nowell.

Let's playin for 9th!

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
Like Masai, I thought we got “lucky” that he fell. Look like he probably just really struggled extending his shooting to the nba 3 and then without that, may not be able to play in the league.
Also, like Masai - I probably shouldn’t be the one making these decisions.

Brutal, we endured so much pain last year for a guy who can't even play well in the G league

He's only 20 so it's far too early to give up on him, but man he doesn't even look mediocre. He looks awful.

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
Gradey has a lot to work on.
He's not being featured the way he's used to and his shot doesn't extend to NBA range just yet. So he's not ready to be a specialist shooter at this point. Hopefully he can get there eventually as his floor. He does get a good amount of defensive attention still.
He has a few nice intangibles, and seems to be a quick thinker. But from what I see he has the following things holding him back.
1. poor handle
2. doesn't have nba range
3. game is too fast for him - he plays rushed
4. lack of standing reach
5. lack of athleticism
6. lack of strength
7. so so defense - not good enough to offset the fact that the opposition will target him
I think if he can improve his handle alone, he'll be way better, since I think shooting inside the arc is in his wheel house and an improved handle could theoretically allow him to play like Derozan. It's going to take a lot of work, but that's the one thing I think he needs to really develop. I also hope he can become better from 3 and start taking those shots with more confidence.
He's got a long way to go though. I'm hoping his struggles are mainly just mental things he can eventually overcome. But he's got a giant target on his back right now and he's struggling badly.

You no longer trust Masai to decide who we draft?

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
I thought he could be a poor man's Klay Thompson. Embarrassing. Still it looks like it's a mental issue since at least before he was doing other things on the court when he wasn't scoring. Now he's not doing that so his confidence is shot or he's being humbled and not hungry enough. Nowell shouldn't be our best rookie so far.

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
Never liked the pick and made it clear I didn’t want us to draft him to begin with. He just screams role player at best (ie/ pray that ends up being another Kevin Huerter) but we’ve been squandering long term opportunities for failed short term “gains”/“needs”.
I don’t hate on Gradey because it’s not his fault the FO picked him so of course hoping & praying he’ll figure out but add another wasted opportunity to Masai & Bobby’s downturn as executives.

lol Draft F-? Imagine if we drafted Suggs or Kuminga. Barnes is the best player in the draft which is way way way more important then any late round player you can find that might be a good starter.
