What might PHI offer for just Brogdon?
Morris and two 2nds. I know you would not be interested in that.
It makes no sense for Portland to hold on to these guys. But whatever.

Perfect 3rd banana with what I think is all star level upside.
Another guy I'd love to steal out of NO: Dyson Daniels. I see him as an excellent partner for Maxey.
Daniels is a nice rotation piece with starter upside. I think Trey would be an immediate impact starter here with low level all star upside.

Philly doesn’t want Brogdon. He’s a negative contract. Portland will have to pay to unload him.
I'm sure he's not actually negative right now, as he's played very well. But Portland fans may not realize just how much of a concern his health/ injury history is to other teams. As many of us probably remember, those concerns were what caused the Clippers to pull back from facilitating a Porzingis trade with Boston and Washington-- they balked at taking back Brogdon. That, combined with his age (31, just at the beginng of what's usually a declining trajectory for guards) and the fact that he's still owed $22.5M next year), make him a big risk for any team that's trying to clear 2024 cap space. If Portland gets expirings for Brogdon, the other team might well decline to give a 1st rounder in return because they're taking all the risk.
Caruso would be a terrific but he but, too, has serious injury concerns. He just keeps getting hurt and missing time: toe, wrist, toe again, knee.... And he's under contract for next season, although a more affordable $9.9M.
Both Brogdon and Caruso would thus represent significant risks. I'd rank Caruso higher just b/c he makes less money. But either or both could wind up missing serious time at inconvenient periods.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

The Tyus Jones rumor doesn't really make sense either. Not saying I wouldn't want him here, but he's not looking to play just 12 minutes a night and he's a terrible fit if you try and pair him with Maxey for any length of time. I get looking at point guard options, but it'll have to be a bigger guard... Almost a combo guard (if that term still exists). If we didn't have Maxey, I'd be all about Tyus Jones, but it doesn't make sense from a size/fit perspective. Not on a Nick Nurse roster.
I agree. For the regular season it will be a welcomed addition, but in the play-offs we will be running 95% of our possessions through Embiid and Maxey. If we trade for a player, they have to be able play off those guys and improve/stabilize our defense.
Therefore I'd rather have a two-way wing player that can offer some secondary playmaking than a true PG who's undersized. A Gordon Hayward/Alex Caruso kind of player.

JRoy wrote:phifans wrote:Let's make it simple
Tobi + Martin +26 OKC first + 29 first pick swap + two 24 seconds for Grant + Thybulle
POR politely declines.
Thybulle is shooting close to 40% from 3 and giving POR defense we really need.
Grant is overpaid but is an effective offensive player and not awful on defense.

Got it ! How about Morris+Kork+House+26 OKC first + 28 first for Grant ?

Side bar... Quickley is too small to pair up with Maxey again at the NBA level, right?

Hayes fits the mold for what is needed next to Maxey.
Tobias is better right now. Still not the answer to anything. Hunter is a prototype sized wing who you hope can improve to replace Cov and Batum. Future move. This season is still not a thing regardless of how everyone wants to fool themselves otherwise.
If you're going after a Knick guard, let it be Grimes.
However, Durant is already whining in Phoenix. I'd be interested to know if you could rip him or preferably Booker out of there.

Do you remember what Durant fetched in the last trade from BRK to PHO? The Sixers don't have anything remotely matching that haul.
And Booker, 27 years old, what do you think he'll bring on the open NBA market?

So you don't even make the call then? Seems silly to me.
