Knicks only gave up a 2nd rounder of their draft picks. Teams must not have been offering much. Otherwise, if I'm the Raptors I'd much prefer draft capital to the players they got.

Wow! I guess Quickley did a lot of the heavy lifting here. RJ's value seems to have dropped considerably.

RJ is canadian, and I think IQ will be very good there. He needs 35 minutes.

And here we thought OG would be traded for multiple first-round picks.

I like OG, but that's a lot to give up for a pending UFA.

Per a Reddit insider who broke the trade before Woj, he said the Knicks already have an extension worked out with him.

I wonder if Morey wasn't super interested in OG or if Masai preferred a player like Quickley to compete.

I imagine the Sixers could beat the deal on paper if they wanted.

Don't think they want Lavine at all.

Didn't the Grizzlies offer like 4 first rounders for OG the previous trade deadline?

If that offer was real and you traded OG for this, that's a real bad deal. The only value the Raptors got out of this is Quickley and he needs to get pay just like OG

Quickley is a stud and should be a great fit with Barnes. Don't love RJ's fit, though I do think he's a decent player. Seems to me the Raptors got better since they needed some more playmaking, but it also seems like their team salary is now an even bigger issue (depending on what happens with Siakam)

If it's Quickley plus Barrett AND draft considerations, my first reaction is that Toronto wins this deal. I just don't see OG as that much vastly better than Quickley, and Barrett's thrown in as well. I guess the Knicks figure that they'd rather try to re-sign OG than Quickley this offseason, and Barrett's contract is starting to look a little hefty for his production. So my second reaction is that I guess I can understand it for both teams.

I don't either. IMO Sixers being mentioned alongside Lavine in news reports probably just represents rumors from an agent. Among all of the other factors involved, Lavine's post-injury status seems completely unknown. I don't see how any team could take a flyer on him right now.

The more i think about it the more i dislike this trade for both sides but well...

The Knicks didn't want to pay IQ and the Raptors probably didn't want to pay OG.

I have no idea what to make of this trade. Seems like the Raptors remain committed to winning now. They're pretty much locked into this roster for a while, if they give IQ the money he wants.

Given how ecstatic Raptors fans are to have OG off their team, I'm kind of glad we're not going to be giving up multiple picks and a bunch of capspace for him.

The best part of this trade is that it's not creating pick inflation on the market, IMO

I think it makes players like Lauri more attainable tbh. Not an exact situation, but he's someone who has 1.5 years left on his deal. I think he can likely be had for 2 picks and a young player.

I can't see why Utah wouldn't just keep Lauri, unless he wants out. He's young, good, and on a good contract. It'll take more than 2 picks.

Contract timing. Don't think they'd want to max out a 27-year-old next summer when they have no other pieces surrounding him and aren't close to contending.
